Are all ports the same? Are there any ports that can get me getting faster download speeds? Like...higher port numbers better, lower port numbers worse? I'm currently using 16881-16889 for Bittorrent.

a more random port number is better due to some ISPs throttling their bandwidth.

Lower ports are often used by your system (eg, 80 is http, 22 is ssh, 23 is telnet, 110 is pop3, 443 is ssl, etc.) and since 6881-6889 are the default ports for bittorrent, ISPs are known to throttle those ports, so it's best to pick something completely random, so that your ISP doesn't catch it easily and throttles you. Best way to avoid throttling is to enable encryption.

Look around for something about ports, a box with a random number in it, most likely.

And if your router supports it, enable UPnP.

You're using the bittorrent ports that you should be.

Traffic shaping (the torrent throttling) is bypassed by simply turning on the encrypted packet headers, or full packets. It has nothing to do with port.
