'Yahoo! Messenger has quit unexpectedly. Upon reopening, it has loaded your plug-ins in Safe Mode'. What does that mean and should I worry about it? My Messenger begins at startup. I closed Y!M and started it again, and I didn't get an error messege.
Well then, I won't worry. The thing is, I've been having at least one serious computer problem a week (blue screen of death (twice)/had to replace my hard drive/had to reinstall windows (twice)/had to delete a system file serious), and I'm EXTREMELY paranoid.
Oh. Do you tend to click on every popup you see? When it says you need to download this spyware checker now, do you click it? When it says you have like 5 new e-mail messages, do you click it? When there are the little games that say things like "Punch Bush and win a free iPod Nano!", do you play it? Do you download absolutely every single thing you see? Do you go to crack/serial websites? Hmm...
Nope, I've never done any of those things. Actually, all but one of the problems was because my hard drive was PHYSICALLY damaged, and the other was because my internet software altered a system file (I know because when my computer started acting up, I tried connecting another computer and got the same error messege, which went away when I uninstalled the software). We switched internet services anyways, so it doesn't matter. Still don't know how my hard drive got damaged. EDIT: One time, though, I got this pop-up that said I needed to install virus protection, and I knew that it would give me a virus/worm/trojan so I hit exit, but it told me I was downloading it so I hit cancel. Since it was because my hard drive was physically damaged though, I don't see how it's relevent. But I will make sure not to go to any websites that have a lot of pop-ups any more.
I rebooted the system to see what happens when Y! Messenger starts, and it didn't happen again, so I think I do have it solved (still don't know what happened). About my other various issues, I'd say they're fixed but I don't want to jinx anything. So in that case I would say that I don't have them fixed, but that would be one of those 'I hate it when I'm right' moments. Sooo... NO COMMENT *sticks hand in front of camera*
Goto my computer, and right click on the drive you think is physically broken. Goto properties, then tools, then error checking . Click check now. Check 'scan for and attempt recovery of bad sectors'. Let it scan. See if it comes up with any bad sectors.
