http://www.pandora.com/ Type in the name of either a song or band you like and listen to other bands which you might also be interested in.
How did you register? Everytime I do it says I need a valid US zip code & that it's only available to US residents at the moment.
Yeah, it used to work, but now they're forcing me to register, inwhich I can't. Maybe you're only allowed to listen to so much before you have to register.
Just type in 5 random numbers and it might work. Unless they cross-reference it with the state. I used 64747. Great idea, Dave. I'm pinning this.
Or couldn't you just Google a zip-code within the state? Thats what I usually do for this kind of stuff.
If anyone needs a state, city or zip code, use this: City: Geneva State: Ohio Zip code: 44041 Don't come find me, though. I'll hide.
In case they cross reference with a state, that's in Missouri. Of if you want a zip code that isn't the middle of nowhere Missouri, and want one from upper class Missouri, use: City: Chesterfield Zip: 63017
This is a good site but sometimes it's recommendations are whack. Remember the old thread about this site?
You're right. Its recommendations can be weird. I entered Kill Hannah, which is a post-rock band, and Pandora told me I'd like the Offspring, which is a pop-punk band. It didn't make much sense.
I entered The Mars Volta and it gave me Dredg, At The Drive-In, The Mars Volta again, and Dio. So I mean, I guess it picked music I'd like, but those are all rather obvious choices. Except I'm not that keen on Dio, but whatever.
Don't diss The Offspring! But you're right Kill Hannah -> Offspring doesn't make much sense. PS: So, Pandora is basically the same thing as Yahoo! LAUNCHcast My Station except you can't rate the song/artist/album?
Meh, Pandora can be useful but whenever i type in bands it comes up with some weird stuff and i think 'How is this relevant?'. Some of it's recommendations are good but some are just...odd
I enter Pantera and I get Lamb of God. maybe they could either come up with bands that sound like Pantera, or bands that aren't known to the whole metal community.
