Looks like the full album is up for listening on zaoonline.com. You can also check out the story behind four of the songs (Physician Heal Thyself, It's Hard Not To Shake (With A Gun In Your Mouth), American Sheets on the Deathbed, and My Love, My Love (We've Come Back From the Dead)) which will not be appearing on the Special Edition DVD.
The CD is meant to be played through a stereo, not through mp3. So, as a caution, don't expect it to sound polished like you would other records. Despite that though, I love this album. It lives up to the hype that I've personally given it.
Why exactly in the age of MP3 Players and iPods would a band like Zao whose core audience is younger people who use these things, make a record that they claim shouldn't be listened to in MP3 format?
Because they wanted a record that sounded different and raw. That's what TFIWKUH is. EDIT: And if by "younger people", you mean the 12-15 year old range, I would have to shoot you down on that. Zao originally started in '93. They didn't really start picking up until about the Blood and Fire and Liberate era (around '98-2000). I would say then, that their core fanbase is infact, much older than that; somewhere around 18 to mid-late 20's.
Oh, ok. Well if it's being labeled as different and raw, that's something that I didn't expect, so I may just have to listen to it.
Branden actually sparked a question in my head. If these aren't meant to be listened through MP3's, why would they post them on their site? Anyway, Zao is decent so I'll give it a listen.
To give the listeners a preview. A shoddy preview, but a preview nonetheless. I like what I've heard, though.
