I downloaded the new Punk Goes '90s album a week or so ago and enjoyed it for the most part. One song caught my ears more than the others, and that was a cover of R.E.M.'s "Losing My Religion" by Scary Kids Scary Kids. Now, when I'd heard the name "Scary Kids Scaring Kids," I thought, you know, "They can't be serious about their music with a name like that." I was wrong - dead wrong. Their music is outstandingly well-crafted. In my opinion, Scary Kids Scaring Kids sounds like an amalgam of several of my favorite bands: Story of the Year, Underoath, Chiodos, Saosin and Circa Survive. However, they don't just combine those bands' sounds; they make the sound all their own, and they make it work. It's unlike anything I've heard before. Their debut album, The City Sleeps in Flames, came out last year, and is quite fantastic. I suggest you all check them out. Songs to look for are "The Only Medicine," "What's Said and Done" and "The City Sleeps in Flames."
I will try and get some songs, I saw them support Reel Big Fish earlier this year, they seemed to get the crowd going and played some good tunes
yeah, i just started listening to them near the end of last year. my roommate suggested them because he knows some of the band members. apparently the drummer got accepted to julliard to play piano, but didn't go because of the band. so when you say their music is well crafted, you ain't lying, Will.
I like Scary Kids Scaring Kids a heap from what I have heard. I haven't got that many songs, but I really like what i've got. I'm planning on getting a few album soon.
I forgot to mention that their cover of "Losing My Religion" is on their MySpace. It's fucking amazing.
