Does anyone know if there is a way for me to connect my laptop to my desktop computer to get all of my files off of it without using the internet?

Not only that... you need a crossover ethernet cable aka a 'patch' cable. Also, I need to know what versions of what OS's are on each.

Can't you copy/burn the files to a disc and then transfer the files that way?

Send the files to someone with a burner, have them burn you a disc and then transfer it?

    Just a thought.

Get someone to let you borrow an iPod or a USB Jumpdrive.

Crossover ethernet cable, Firewire cable, usb drive, external HDD, iPod, floppy.

Those are pretty much your only options.

If all of that fails, you could always easily borrow someone's burner.

Ok, get a crossover cable, plug it in one computer and into the other one. Set the ethernet port's ip to 192.168.0.1 on the xp machine. On ME, goto the properties for the connection, and enable netbios over tcp/ip. Reboot ME and you should be able to see shared folders on each other's machines.
