So, considering the success of the Random Thoughts 7 Sig Challenge and how it brought everyone together and created interest, I thought another contest could be fun. This one will be tougher than the last one, I can tell you that. I will be accepting 25 participants for this contest, but there are requirements. You must be an active member with at least 1000 posts. I'll explain why; The contest is going to require a good memory, creativity, and mental awareness at all times. There is no end date; it is a fight to the death. Only the last (wo)man standing will be declared the winner and win the mystery prize. So, the premise? I challenge you not to use the words "the" or "and" in any of your posts until the end of the contest. While you may say that's an easy challenge, it isn't. So far, in this post alone, I've used the word "the" 12 times and "and" 4 times. It is not easy. That's why I want to see who can be the most clever member of them all. The reward will be worth it, I promise. But it will not be announced until the end of the contest, when one person is left standing. Trust me, it's worth it, so don't be afraid to sign up. Now, some of you guys tried to find ways to get around the rules of the last contest, so I'm going to make sure that doesn't happen again. You must average 5 posts a day in "Random Thoughts 7" and 10 posts a day overall on the forums once the contest starts and until it finishes. This is to prevent people from sticking to threads like "Word Association" and "What Song Are You Listening To" where they're less likely to use "the" or "and". While the last contest killed traffic, I want this one to at least keep it stable, if not increase it. I will not be making daily checks of this, but when the contest ends, I will be checking your posts to see if the averages were maintained. If the contest lasted 10 days, I'd check to see if you made at least 50 posts in RT and 100 posts overall since the beginning of the contest. For those of you who are not eligible or if you think you lack the mental capacity to substitute words, I offer you a chance to win something as well. I want you to be my monitors. If you see a participant use either words in one of their posts, you can report the post to me via PM (a screen would be nice, but not required). The first person to report the participant will win the chance to put an image or message of their choosing in the loser's signature for 30 days. Participants can oust other participants as well. That's incentive for you! Exemptions are in place for things copied and pasted from other websites, like news articles or tracklistings for cds or movie/book/band titles, but anything that comes from your own mouth, so to speak, is fair gain. I think it would be. Somebody's bound to screw up. If you were to leave in mid-June and this contest continued onwards past then, you would still be eligible if you had those aforementioned post averages (5 per day in RT, 10 per day on forums) when this contest ends. Haha, I didn't use those words in this post too.
Aliright, I think I can do that. I'm in. Hehe, this will be fun! I shall have to think! Question: Could I use, "&" or "+" if, theoretically, I needed to? Or would that just defeat this game's purpose? (haha, this rather hard)

humm well can i sign up, but here's my question: because my parents split up, live in seperate houses, one without a computer(my mum), can i still sign up if i just post like 20 times in one night and leave the next day and then do another 20 they following day, and im not here on the opening day so can i post 20 on wednesday? please let me sign up!

Nukefish/Darcy: Yes. The main reason I have those requirements is so that you actually have to post a fair amount, giving you more of a chance to screw up. It makes it tougher. When the contest is over, the winner will only be eligible for the prize if he or she has posted an average of 5 posts a day in RT and 10 posts a day overall. Thus, my 10 day example. It does not have to be daily, but you never know when the contest is going to end, so you have to try to maintain your averages. If you miss one day, you have to make up for it the next day. Mali: The contest is endless, until someone screws up. I used the 10 days as an example. I'm going to up the number of participants to 25. I'll be updating the first post again once the contest starts Thursday at 12AM ET to reflect your current post totals overall and in RT7.
