Yes, I am creating a seperate thread for Legend's followup because this really has nothing to do with Legend apart from the storyline and may contain some spoilers for those who want/own the game, but haven't played/beat it yet. This thread is to speculate over what the next TR will be like in terms of story, or to say what you'd like to have changed/included in the next raider. I mean hell, go ahead and call me a nerd if you want. But if Nate can have a crush on a virtual videogame character (Yuna), then I can dissect this game's story and try to decipher where Crystal Dynamics will be going with it next. ...but anyways. We already know from reaching the end of the game, that Lara caught a glimpse of her mother through the Avalon time portal (activated by excalibur), and that she might not really be dead after all. Lara then of course has a bout of PMS and flips on Amanda, blaming her for the entire mess and demanding she be told where her mother is. Amanda says that Lara's mom is in Avalon, the place where the Knights of The Round Table went when they died, and a place that Lara only thought to be a myth before the whole adventure began. After knocking that bitch (Amanda) out with her pistol, Lara states that she is going back to England, basically revealing that the story has just begun as the credits roll. So therefore, since Legend's obviously a cliffhanger...I believe Lara is going to be traveling to Avalon and that the entire story will be focused on Lara's search for her mother and the truth behind the plane crash in the Himalayas. But yeah..that's just my view. For those of you who completed Legend, and dont mind feeling nerdy speculating..what do YOU think?
It's not really addiction. The story is that straight foreword with the information, so it's not really anything "deep." Anyways, I think the story will probably progress deeper into Lara's past. I hope that they do not have a level in which we must explore Avalon... They should keep that entire concept a mystery to us or something. Legends story is good, but it's too bland at the moment to really speculate anything. The story is basically like the tip of the ice berg, and we'll have to wait until the next game to even realize that. It can go in so many different directions because there are quite a few. Lara might now spend the entire lifetime of the TR series searching for her mother and never find her perhaps until THE final TR game, lol. I'm sensing this is probably what the company has in store for the series. If you think about it, they used a very broad subject to base the story over: a missing person with a supernatural twist. So therefore they can detour us many games before we look at back and go, "wait, so... is this all a build up to finding Lara's mom... Right?" I don't know, I just have a gutsy feeling, because after you complete a missing person's story... What more is there to really tell? lol. I'm not too familiar with the entire story all around, but I think this would be the best it'd get. I could be wrong, though.
Something that I think could work is that instead of having seperate levels in the game, they should base it in one set area all the way / most of the way through. An example of what I mean is Metroid, Sonic Adventure 1, Metal Gear Solid etc etc. I think this would really bring out the adventure aspect in the series and brings in whole new possibilities for puzzles and game progression.
One location (i.e. Avalon) would be nice, but if the fans are already being little bitches over the length..I think a lack of change in location would make them cry to their mommas and such. So maybe what could happen is that Legend's levels could be very based on the story as opposed to just location. One level could revisit Nepal (since that level in actuality was very short) and be placed in the past as young Lara, as she survives the elements and finds her way back to civilization. Then another QUICK level could be a ride through the busy streets of England as she goes and finds her friend to tell him that 'her father was right all along' and find information about her fathers research. Then finally of course (if they chose not to do what Keaton said) the final few levels could be based around Avalon. Like I said, the possibilites are endless. I do think tr8 needs to deeply revolve around the story of tr7. While I wouldn't say the story was simple..I will say that it was slightly vague and left a lot of details out about Lara's mom/dad (which they probably did on purpose). I have a good feeling that the next game will be twice the length and very story driven. It was originally rumored that mesopotamia would be included in this game too, so hopefully that'll be a part of tr8. Only time will tell.
