Same here, man. I like WANA, but Saturate was much better. I'm kind of worried since the producer is the same as WANA, though. I hope they don't get complacent with the sound.
They need to go back to rocking the fuck out like they did on Saturate and not worry about whether the song sounds good on the radio with Switchfoot and Three Doors Down.
These guys are from my town and I can't wait to hear some new stuff from them! They're coming home this month to play an all acoustic set at a benefit concert so I'm excited to hear it, maybe they'll play something new.
I don't think the band actually sits down and says "man, let's record more songs that would sound good on the radio!", I think bands get a lot more control over what they're doing than people give them credit for most of the time. I like both of their albums just as much, they're both as good as each other IMO, different like you said as Saturate was harder, but the best kind of record is one that offers a variety of hard, soft, melodic & maybe even acoustic tracks.
