Saul Williams apparently announced during a "pre-concert poetry reading" on Monday in Knoxville, TN, that Trent Reznor of Nine Inch Nails will be co-producing his new album. Then, this picture was put up on Nine Inch Nails' website yesterday: ugggh. I cannot wait for his new album. Anyone who hasn't checked out Mr. Williams, please do. Official Site. Myspace.
maybe if all goes well Saul will be on a NIN song I love his music but I can't find any of it online. I downloaded 3 songs from his self titled album but that's all I could get
oh wow, that's pretty sweet. but from the topic title, i was expecting like... omar to be producing it. but saul williams is awseome.
I think Omar did something on his self-titled album. I forget what. Maybe producing. I know Ikey (organ/keyboardist for The Mars Volta) played piano on Black Stacey though.
Omar's production skills are too atmospheric for hip-hop. If you listen to De-Loused and Frances back to back, you can tell a major difference in the production. De-Loused sounds crisp and polished, Frances sounds (like I said) atmospheric and gritty at times. It suited them well, but it wouldn't Saul. Enough about my little rant on Omar. Trent producing a hip-hop record just means it'll never come out.
From what I've seen, a lot of people know about him soley through touring with The Mars Volta and Nine Inch Nails. But I guess he was huge in the slam poetry world, which I've only scratched the surface of so far.
What do you mean? Co-Producing Saul Williams does not a Tapeworm make. Or de la Rocha make. Or... damnit, you're right. Seriously though, if stuff Trent is involved with continues going the way of never coming out, then there a bunch of particular artists that need Trent to 'produce' for them.
To be fair, Atticus Ross was producing Tapeworm, I believe. The record labels and Trent's love for the music fucked Tapeworm over. But you're spot on with Zack de la Rocha.
Well, to be honest, I was just talking about Trent involved with other projects in general. They just never seem to be released. But even though it may never come out, I'm excited about the SW project.
I'm sure it'll come out. The projects Reznor worked on during the Downard Spiral / Fragile eras were bound to fail due to his substance abuse.
