Since I'm from where Bertuzzi plays, I'll take a cheap shot: At least I'm not a Newfie. I'm just joking anyways; everyone makes fun of them. To tell you the truth, I've never been anywhere in Canada that lies east of Edmonton.

I'll just watch the highlights anyway, but I might wake up for the finals.

Every goalie I picked in the last week has either not played or got me negative points.

But sure. I'd be willing to redeem myself. :p

Canada looks disorganized in this first period.

Hehe. I'd worry if this wasn't the first game. I remember Canada lost to Sweden 5-1 in the first game of the 2002 Olympics, and we all know what eventually happened there. A little scare will do them good.

Frankly, I'm not surprised the Americans tied Latvia. Heh. They've probably sunk to seventh-best team in the tournament.

    My rankings:
    01. Canada
    02. Czechs
    03. Swedes
    04. Russians
    05. Finns
    06. Slovakians
    07. Americans
    08. Germans
    09. Swiss
    10. Latvians
    11. Kazahks
    12. Italians

I can't believe we only beat them 7-2. Goal differentials count.
Hey does anyone know a good site to find video highlights besides TSN?

Yah but there is no excuse for a team full of NHL plaers can't beat a team with one former NHLer. Guess thats what made the difference thoguh. The americans dominated that game but Irbe held them in it. Irbe played amzing and Grahame played mediocre.

That is where I would have ranked the americans from the start. Grahame is a washed up goalie who has never had much talent in my opinion, and their roster is just too old and too big for this fast paced international game. Now that I have seen the Slovaks play I would probably rank them in 4th. They are one hell of a team if their goalie plays solid. I mean playing for the Avalance I have seen him play a few NHL games and he can definitely play solid hockey for his team. There have been a few games that I have seen him steel from other teams.

Goal differentials don't count if you're 5-0 at the end of round robin.

That's amazing. Switzerland beat the Czechs? This is like Belarus and Sweden all over again. The Swiss actually have a really good youth hockey program, look for them to be top 8 within 10-15 years.

Oh yeah, that's no excuse for the US not winning, Ryan. Their defence is too old, the goaltending is lackluster, and the forwards are inexperienced. Even with all of that they should've beat Latvia. I'm just not too surprised by it. I didn't have much faith in the Americans being contenders at the beginning of this tournament anyways.

I dont think they were contenders either. I am surprised that they tied cause there is no reason for them to tie a team with non-nhlers. I think you are just confusing what I am saying. I am not saying there are any excuses, I say they blew the game. I dont expect them to contend for a gold at all but they shouldn't have tied latvia.

Other than TSN.ca, I'm not sure. CBC reruns everything during primetime.

The Finns look good regardless of playing two easy teams. Might be a potential threat. Really the only nhl player team to not show any signs of struggle in the round robin so far.

The Canadian team is worth, according to its players' NHL salaries, 97 million CAD.
