Ovechkin by a mile. Especially that HOLY SHIT goal against Phoenix.

I'd say in the Western Conference, Svatos (Colorado). Closely followed by Phaneuf (Calgary)

I'm a huge Crosby fan, but Ovechkin has totally earned my respect. That goal against Phoenix was the second best I've ever seen (#1: Gilmour vs. St Louis, 93 Playoffs).

    Ovechkin.

Here's video: http://www.rh71.com/projects/ovechkin/vids/goal32.avi (Right click -> Save target as)

Even if you're not a hockey fan, this is a must-see. It's unfathomable.

Yah that was a wicked goal. Ovechkin totally deserves the hardware but I mean Crosby has played solid as well showing up Ovechkin with 4 points against the Capitals as Ovechkin onl had a loan goal. Either way this ear is deep with rookis and they probably all deserve the trophy, especially if you look at some past winners of the trophy.

How can you put Svatos over Phanuef. Calgary was a team that everyone said had the best defense in the league before the start of the season. So with Phaneuf not in that mix and coming into that team and being their number one d-man is pretty damn impressive. I mean Svatos has played extremely well but I would easily give the decision to Phanuef.

Edit: Sick news, Doug Weight to Carolina for alot of stuff. I didn't tihnk Weight was worth this much. He is a good palyer but anyhow Carolina is seriosu about a playoff run.

Svatos has 8 game winning goals this season. He's pretty clutch. Hah.

But then again, Phaneuf has 5.

The Edmonton comeback last night was amazing.

I think St. Louis got a great deal out of the Weight trade.

Yah St. Louis did get a great deal, no way I would have gaven a 1st round pick for Weight. Let alone another 2 4th rounders and 3 guys who I know can at least skate.

Yah the comeback was pretty sweet textbook faceoff win. Kinda a softie form Pronger but it went in and thats all that matters.

Yah well thye are gonna get thier asses kicked tomorrow. Edmonton Can't continue to loose all their home games.

Plus we are 4-0 against the Canucks this year and Morrison will be getting the start. This kid has a big upside in big games.

Yeah, back-to-backs are really tough. Funny thing is that I think the last two times we played the Oil, Morrison would get pulled by the end of the 1st period, but you'd end up winning anyway. Goaltending on both sides has sucked when the two teams play each other. I hope Auld starts tonight instead of Omelette.

I'm really surprised that the Blues are doing better after the trade. They're on a two-game winning streak!

I found it funny how Carolina had more wins in January than St. Louis had all year before February started. Hah.

    Yeah

I watched the game today. A pretty good game. I got worried when Dallas tied it up, but we still won :D

Hopefully after the trade we'll stop sucking

Yah that Blues game was decent.

Yes the Oil won. Damn Auld played wicked, if he didn't play net it wouldn't have even been close.

The Oilers dominated the game right from the beginning.
Goddam Bertuzzi. All he did was float around and take stupid penalties. We should trade him for an extra goalpost.

I'm not sure I would even give that up for Bertuzzi the way he is playing right now. Same with Naslund, that is probably the worse game I have seen him play in a canucks uniform.

Naslund does have a nagging groin injury that's caused him to miss the Olympics, so that's probably why.

Yah but the guy should have enough respect for his team to sit out and heal properly before coming back.

He sat out the game in Colorado (which we won in a SO), came back against Phoenix and scored. He said that he has been playing at around 80%, and I've noticed that he doesn't have much jump lately. My guess is that if he sits out tonight against the Bluejackets, he'll skip all the games up to the Olympic break.

The biggest problem with the Canucks is that they seem to underestimate bad teams, and think they can win without much effort.

I've been saying Ovechkin would be rookie of the year since before the lockout, and my stance hasn't changed! :D

Not only should Ovechkin win rookie of the year he shold also be a niminee for the hart trophy. The award goes to the player who is most valuable to his team. I mean Ovechkin has 66 points and the next closest guy on the team has 27 or something like that. Ovechkin is the guy keeping Washington out of the running for number one pick in june.

They're still doing really badly, so they'll probably get top 5 in June.

LA has been sucking lately, especially since Minnesota trounced them. If the Kings keep playing like they are, they're not going to make the playoffs. It wouldn't surprise me if all 5 of the teams in the NW division make the playoffs. Minnesota are totally underrated.

In order for him to be Most Valuable Player to his team, his play would have to contribute to the success of his team. Washington's nowhere near successful, heh. They're, like, 28th in the league.

If you really want to look at a Hart Candidate, try Jaromir Jagr. He's propelled the Rangers into a playoff spot for the first time in 5 or 6 years, and he has 6 game winners. Same thing goes for Eric Staal (4 GWG) and Martin Gerber with the Hurricanes. I wouldn't give Alfredsson a look because of his amazing linemates, though. You could put Tie Domi between Jason Spezza and Dany Heatley and still get 60-70 points.

Hell, maybe even Bryan McCabe. Is it a coincidence the Leafs went on an 8-game losing streak as soon as he was hurt? He's also the league leader in points by a defenceman and has 6 GWG. Now that he's back, the Leafs have picked up their play again.
