I've been having this problem for ages now & I just can't seem to fix it. Every time I go to stream something that's Windows Media, it just doesn't load. Here's an example; I can't stream the videos on Gamespot, I click stream & the video will flicker & just stay on "Ready". It won't buffer, load or anything. I've tried using this solution but it doesn't help.

Can anyone recommend anything I can do to solve this annoying problem? Thanks in advance.

This might be the case. It happened to me too.

You might not have the most recently updated version of Windows Media Player. I can't imagine it being anything else because there has been no situation, that I've experienced, that involved Windows Media not playing a video when it was updated.

Check the version of your Player and update it if you haven't already. If it's updated to the latest version and it still doesn't play, I don't know what else it could be.

EDIT: It also might be certain settings that you have for the Player. Try messing around a little with options and preferences and it might do something.

I have the same problem on gamespot, the video loads but only the sounds plays not actual video. I have the latest version of media player (just checked) the only way i can get it to play is right clicking on the video and going to properties and coping the URL and pasting it into open URL in windows media. instead of playing it on the website.
