This is my story, another freak show among them all, I was the chosen one, the one ready to fall. In a trap, they set us up, all along the whole time, They take you; they break you, into the lines of a rhyme. Tell it to our face; take it as another joke, Another monkey in the cage, to tease and provoke. I took their promises and wrapped them inside, To finally realize, that I would be the one to hide. Took us by the knife of an edge, Took us by the reasoning of a pledge. Trapped, and encircled, one all alone, The one eager and ecstatic, the one that was prone. We all knew it was unjust and plain cruel, But they had the power, the right to make one rule. To obey and take note that we are slaves, No one will listen, no one will care, and that is how we are made. Why don’t they hold us, to be strangled? Another life to seen distraught and have been mangled. Another sorry soul among them all, still I am, For the one still scared, to be doomed and to be damned.
I love how you fitted the longer lines into a rhyme sceme. Puts my poem to shame . Good job. I especially loved your first two lines.
