    Mike Shinoda recently posted on the LPUnderground Message Boards that Linkin Park are currently working on their new album. This, unlike reports from sources like Billboard, is direct confirmation from a band member that a new album is in the works. In addition, Mike hinted at the inclusion of new material in the fifth annual installation of the LPUnderground membership package. Mike's complete quote read;

    "i just wanted to say hi and post something that's not fort minor related...i want to point out somthing about LPU 5. if you haven't heard yet, we're working on a record right now. that means if we get it finished soon enough, we'll be able to put it out next year. which means that an LPU 5 membership would come in really handy.

    i can't promise anything, because you never know what can happen with an album. but whatever happens, i'll be working hard on some music, and i'll be posting here as usual.
    "

    They are going to change their name, as a collective fusion (or rebirth) from Fort Minor and Chester's new album. We don't know what the name will be just yet.

    From what I know though, the band want to move away from rap over rock and create a more electronica feel, based mainly off grass-roots or "country-like" folk ballads.

    I doubt that means the inclusion of new material on the LPU5.0 disc. What I do think it means is that if you have a LPU 5.0 membership you will get first access to listen to new material and such when it becomes available. But I dont tihnk new material from their forthcoming cd will appear on the LPU5.0 disc.

    Sad thing is, I actually believed what Omar said until I read the folk thing.

    But yes, it's about time. I really hope their new album is great, with some of the best lyrics since the EP and a crockload of creativity.

    Of course, knowing Warner we'll probably have Don Gilmore forced to produce this, and it'll become Hybrid Theory Pt. 3, but hey..one can only wish.

    This album is a lot of fans' last hope in the band, so here's praying they wont worry so much about making a hit...but more along the lines of making an excellent album.

    Fort Minor is kinda weak so far, but then again anything Jay-Z executive produces is crap (Dipset anyone?)...so since we've heard reports that Mike probably wont produce their new cd, lets hope they pick someone other than Don or Jay-Z.

    That'd be different, although I really like the guy Kanye used on Late Registration. He made Kanye try some interesting things.

    The best way to ensure a creative CD is to get someone who's not used to working with that particular genre..cause usually they come up with some interesting results.

    Jay-Z dosen't executive produce Dipset.

    Matter of fact, they hate eachother.

    Damon Dash was the one who signed Cam'ron and The Diplomats to Roc A Fella.

    Yeah cause Jay probably hates the wackness.

    Honestly, if Mike's gonna go hip-hop they should do a rap-metal cover of Grandmaster Flash's "The Message".
