I wonder if Osama bin Laden was one of the victims... it's really terrible though. the country is already facing economical crisis, and terrorism and next they have to face this. i wonder how they'll recover...
It really sucks. I live here though thankgoodness that it didn't hit Karachi. And my mom was really freaked out when she got to know that Margalla towers collapsed, because she stayed there for two days some time ago. Though the bad thing is that every one focused so much on Islamabad (which is by the way, our capital) that little towns and villages were negelected and, well it caused havoc. The village people had to put up safety tents and shelters, and as the were uneducated amatuers they couldn't do much. On a whole In this village 90% huts and houses had collapsed. Though I am really proud of Major General Shaukat Aziz, he is so busy now and is trying to keep things cool. Six Japanese or so died, who lived in Margalla Towers, including a two year old Japanese boy who died on the way to the hospital. Thus Japan is helping out. In addition to this, France is sending the "heat seeking" machines which will detect out people from the debris/rubble.
I feel bad for all the people that died during the earthquake, but that's what a natural disaster does, you can't prevent it. Just look at the Tsunami in Asia, or Hurricane Katrina.
I have alot of Pakistani friends and it's horrible, I'm so sorry for the victims and the victim's families. ...stupid mother nature. I can't believe it reached 18,000! *Lost for words* Aisha, :hugz: I think you're too understanding =P
the news says 19000....murderous...insane... think about each peron breathing slowly and helplessly under all the rubble...
I never even knew about this. A hurricane hits the States, all over the news. Earthquakes in Pakistan - nothing.
Exactly. the first i heard of it was here last night, i look at the paper this morning and there is a tiny bit in the front page about it. it's wrong. well... i feel sorry for those involved. i hope the media bucks up it's ideas and starts doing something about this.
This is horrible... So many people have died. Apparently the earthquake was also felt in Uzbekistan, in Tashkent. I imagine that it will take a very long time to deal with the aftermath.
It will. This event showed me how poor our country is. I already sent aid (clothes, shoes, food). Half my wardrobe is cleaned out, I don't care but I am happy that I could help.
30000 i went out to this shop owned by a pakistani who's family lived at the epicenter of the quake...and he's here, working in a small shop in Saudi Arabia...he seemed very helpless the poor guy...
I remember sometime last year I said something along the lines that natural disasters were going to get progressively worse as time went on. I guess I was right. Shit.
