you ever heard of folkmetal? if you did, give your opinion about it.. if you never heard of folkmetal, try Flogging Molly - What's left of the flag i think it's really worth listening to.. (actually i wasn't talking about folkmetal at all. i thought it was called folk metal, but actually it is called punk rock with ska and celtic influences.) thanks to Odaton for telling me this
I've never heard of Folkmetal and I've never listened to Flogging Molly eithier. Hmm... but I'll go check them out, see what I think... Okay, I don't like Folkmetal. I'm not into Flogging Molly at all. :wth: Reminds me of pirate music. lol
No Flogging Molly aren't Folk metal. They are punk rock with ska and celtic influences. Maybe a bit of folk rock but definately not metal. Folk Metal is definately a different genre. Think early Ulver (Bergtatt, Kveldssanger), Agalloch, Wind, Finntroll, Vintersorg, etc. Those bands had a mix of heavy metal (usually black/doom metal) and I think they are really amazing. Especially the early Ulver material. Their first album, Bergtatt was a mix of black metal and folk music. Their next, Nattens Madrigal was entirely raw black metal, and their third release, Kveldssanger, was entirely Norwegian folk music with just guitars and vocals! Ulver still makes incredible music, but are more into soundscapes, electronica, and some really great experimental rock (check out "Blood Inside"). Agalloch and Wind are also two other really good bands, influenced by Ulver material. Just so you know, I do enjoy Flogging Molly, but I'm just pointing this out to you guys.
