I have a Divx movie and want to convert it to DVD, but every program I try to open it in has a problem. Nero has an error, DVD santa lets the audio get unbeleivable off time with the video. WinAVI converter has the output video with pixels fading into each other. Any ideo how I can get this movie onto a DVd that can be read by a regular DVD player?
i've been trying to do almost the exact same thing. i just can't find a program that will work....and the ones that do work need to be registered to get the the banner off the screen.
DivX has been encoded into a smaller file format. Going back to dvd from DivX will get you horrible quality, and most likely will take up 2cds. DivX is taking DvD quality movies and compressing them into a format that can be read by the codecs and will take up less hard drive space. But you can put them on cds that will play on a DvD player. It's gonna take time (possibly up to 6hrs depending on your processor) It will also be an SVCD. Look up more information on SVCDs for explanations. Use TmpGenc Here
Neil, are you saying that I would get better quality burning my Divx files to Cds instead of DVDs? If so, why is this?
Nono. You can convert a divx movie to a large svcd and burn it onto a dvd. I don't have a dvd burner, so I always have to put my svcds onto 2 or 3 cds. The quality will remain crappy though. It's taking an encoded video and re-encoding from that copy.
Okay. You don't mean the quality of the Divx will be reduced, just it won't be DVD quality. I know that. I just can't get it to convert at all. I put it into .VOB, .IFO and .BUP, or MPEG2 files and it is not working.
TmpgEnc should encode from divx Boot it, and from the list pick SVCD. Then it asks you for an input video and audio file. Since DivX has audio in it, you only need to select the video file. Then make your selections, keep hitting next, and it will ask you for an output filename in .mpg [E:\Movies\Harold And Kumar Go To White Castle.mpg] Then start and wait. When it's done, just burn the .mpg file onto the dvd, data style (don't use any dvd making programs) and the dvd player should just recognize the file.

[/b][/quote] Why should I use SVCD and not DVD (NTSC)? Isn't DVD higher quality? Oh, I didn;t have Divx codec installed. Maybe that was the problem.
