Hah, I guess I'm unpatriotic then (heh, like you didn't know that), because there's no way in hell I support the murder of other human beings. And Iraq hasn't really set up their democracy yet. When they start to make anything close to what I would call progress, they're pressured from other nations to be more strict.
Yes, I know that -- they do that at most schools. First they promote the military and tell you how it's going to be great, but when you actually go in to sign the papers and everything they do their best to dissuade you and explain to you how hard it is. At least, in most cases (like I said about poor areas -- sometimes they don't stress it as much in these places... not saying you live in a poor area) they do. [/b][/quote] I live in one of the wealthiest communities in my state and I've had recruiters hounding me since my junior year of high school. Not a single one has said anything negative about the armed forces, even when I went to talk with an Air Force officer. I agree with Cindy Sheehan. She's quite right to question the war, and IMO, Bush is just making himself look bad by refusing to speak with her. She's not asking him to remove the troops, she's asking him to talk to her and tell her WHY we had to invade.
I absolutely support her. She is asking for what Mr. Bush's plan is for Iraq, something that he's dodged since day one and continues to do so today. He's gotten himself into an impossible situation, and innocent lives are dying for it, on both sides. Bush senior when asked about invading Iraq during his term said that he wouldn't because there "was no viable exit strategy". How times haven't changed.
I support her 100% and am god damn sick of people whining about her and how she shouldn't have first amendment rights.
Perhaps dissenter's are also unaware of the fact that Cindy has since moved her camp from outside George Bush's vacation house to Louisiana to support the hurricane victims. Here, a private community sector has set up more aid faster than the entire Bush administration was able to do in the same amount of time. Amazing, and another reason to support her.
