Has anybody heard of these guys? I saw their video for "Smile In Your Sleep" on Muchmusic today and I thought it was pretty good! They're alot like Thrice, especially the guitars and screaming. The vocals remind me of Midtown, kinda. I'm not sure if they're anew band or not, but they're Canadian, so that most likely means they're not very well known yet. Listen to "Smile In Your Sleep" on PureVolume. I haven't listened to the rest of their new album "Discovering The Waterfront" yet (currently downloading), but I'll let you guys know.
I think they're pretty good. They've been around for a couple years now I think. Lately they get alot of promotion because they're associated with Victory Records --> TBS and Hawthorne Heights. Their first cd "When Broken is Easily Fixed" was alright, "Smashed into Pieces" and the title track were probably the highlights. The screaming got kinda annoying though. But I like "Smile in Your Sleep" so I'll probably check this cd out.
Silverstein is a great band. Discovering the Waterfront and When Broken is Easily Fixed are awesome albums.
Silverstein are pretty awesome. I've only got the album When Broken is Easily Fixed but it is really good.
I have heard of Silverstein due to them being on the numerous Victory Records sampler cds that I have. I've heard "Smashed Into Pieces" , "Giving Up" and "Smile In Your Sleep". It's pretty good stuff but it hasn't made me check out more music from them.
Typical emo fare in the vein of Taking Back Sunday and Hawthorne Heights. There is much better stuff out there in that genre.
Wow, this new song is really good. I've never heard any of their older stuff. I think they're much better than Hawthorne Heights just by comparing the one song I heard from HH and this one song by SS. HH are sort of annoying. "Faded", I'm a bit curious... lol what other bands can you reccomend that are better than these bands? I like checking out new music.
Well, i'm not a fan of emo in general, although there are a couple exceptions out there, like Atreyu and Funeral For A Friend.
I think they're very 'emo'. I like them, but I got sick of the screaming about "bleeding hearts blah blah blah" on their first cd, and that kind of stuff is stereotypically emo. It's what they sing about, PLUS the label they happen to be signed to, lol. They might kinda sound like Thrice but I'd say Thrice is more about society and more sophisticated in general. Just my 2 cents. Hows the new album Mark?
WHat's wrong with death metal? @Faded-Atreyu isn't emo, really. I think I've heard a song by Silverstein once, it was alright but I can't remember what it was called.
Fucking right I'm cool. [/b][/quote] LMFAO. As for me, Silverstein never seemed to really float my boat. Sorry guys.
I loved both "Discovering The Waterfront" and "When Broken Is Easily Fixed" "Discovering The Waterfront" has quickly become my favorite album of 2005 so far.
