I was going to put this in RT, but I thought that no one would read it and it was a musical topic, so I decided to make a post of it here. As the topic states, I did go to Ozzfest 2005 yesterday and I will say that I had a great time. It was a long ass day and it was hot as fuck, but I managed (although the sunburn on my nose is killing me). Here's a rundown of what I thought of the show Second Stage: Arch Enemy: Missed because we got there late Trivium: Same as above (I was kind of pissed) Black Dhailia Murder: Got there at the end of their set and missed it. The Haunted: Great Bury Your Dead: Great up until the end where I believe it was Jada Pinkett Smith reciting at the end "Bury Your fucking Dead" over and over Wicked Wisdom: Missed on purpose to rest (I overheard them and they blew shit) Gizmachi: Wasn't impressed Soilwork: Great It Dies Today: Missed A Dozen Furies: Impressed with them Mastodon: Didn't really pay attention to them As I Lay Dying: Impressed with them Killswitch Engage: One of my favorites, Adam D. was of course hilarious as hell (he performed in "short shorts and a fucking cape" as he said) Rob Zombie: Awesome, impressed with him Main Stage: In Flames: Ok at best Black Label Society: I'll say this with 100% truth now...Zakk Wylde is a fucking GOD. Shadows Fall: Great Mudvayne: Awesome, but already seen them so it wasn't amazing. Iron Maiden: Fucking amazing, I was somewhat of a Maiden fan until then, now I have the utmost respect for them. Black Sabbath: One of the greatest moments of my life. So all and all, it was decent...I had a good time. The Second Stage somewhat disappointed me, but the Main Stage truely made up for it. 4.5/5 P.S. If you have any disagreements with what I just said...deal with it, it's my opinion. I had fun and that's all that matters. So if you want to talk about your Warped Tours and your SOTU tours fine by me...I have full respect of those tours, I just paid my money to go see this one.
My review of Ozzfest. Second stage: Wicked Wisdom: Wasn't around for their show. I heard they got booed. It Dies Today: Wasn't around for their show. Bury Your Dead: Wasn't around for their show. (got there late so I missed those three) Gizmachi: They were all right, I guess they were a "teaser" for the rest of the day. It Dies Today: They were pretty good. Soilwork: AWESOME. The singer pointed at me. Arch Enemy: Their tour bus broke down on the way to the show so they didn't play. Trivium: Holy shit. These guys tore up second stage. There were like 5 mosh pits and like 2 fights broke out. The Black Dahilia Murder: Wasn't around for them. Mastodon: Didn't pay attention to them. As I Lay Dying: Missed the first three songs but the rest of what they played KICKED ASS and they were the best second stage act. Killswitch Engage: They were pretty good, I don't really like them though. Rob Zombie: I headed up for the lawn before this man hit the stage. (I only like one of his songs.) Main Stage In Flames: Even though they played some songs I wished they didn't play, they came out as the second best main stage act, IMO. Black Label Society: Went to get a drink and talk to my friend while they were playing. Shadows Fall: They were okay. Mudvayne: BEST mainstage act BUT, As I Lay Dying still beats them. Iron Maiden: If I tried hard enough, I bet I could have fallen asleep when these guys played. Black Sabbath: See above, Tony Iommi is one hell of a great guitarist though. Overall it was a 3.5/5 day for me. I also got to meet As I Lay Dying and In Flames and they both autographed their CDs for me. I got a picture of every band member from In Flames on my camera phone. I would have done the same with As I Lay Dying but I didn't have enough time. Like what Faded said, if you have any disagreements with what I just said, deal with it. It's my opinion.
Sounds like you two guys had a great time. Sometimes I wish I lived in the US, Trivium and Mudvayne playing the same festival, that's just fucking godly.
