brad is capable but he just chooses not to play complicated guitar watch the making of meteora there some explanitory there why should every band have flashy guitar chordes lol give the guy a break
Sorry to burst your bubble, but the only time Jane Says was performed by LP, Chester was on accoustic at the time. During the shows, he would get out a guitar and ask if the crowd wanted to hear Jane Says or Morning After.
I've read an article a while back in a guitar magazine all about Brad and his approach to playing, which I heartily agree with. He says that, "any old monkey can go all out and play a huge solo. It's not difficult. What is difficult is thinking up guitar parts with enough depth so that people don't get tired of them after hearing them time and time again. That's a much harder thing to do, and something i'd much rather be doing." I think that's just about the best approach to playing possible. Brad isn't talentless, or being held back. He's inventing deep, sonic sounds with the depth for us to be able to listen to say, "By Myself" over and over and not get sick of it. That is what makes Brad great.
I live for LP!! Actually...they keep me from comitting suicide... :wth:
I used to say that but then I began looking at the good aspects of life
the riffs are pretty easy I agree... but he has some pretty good skill, i mean, he plays the intro of APFMH real easy, and he also plays my own summer real good, i think LP just decided that LP didn't need complex guitar riffs
i'm with you all the way buddy. haha phoenix had a tiny solo (i'd consider it a solo, not a fill because he doesn't use fills) in papercut, near the end. but taht's about it, phoenix isn't recognized as what he should be recognized

It's just a bassline progression that can be heard above the guitar because it's at a higher note. It has to be said that Brad did pretty well to play My Own Summer as smoothly as he did.
I think Brad can do more than he does. Maybe on the next album we'll hear stronger riffs. Im listenoin to pshing me a*wy from Live in Texas, and that guitar sounds great there.
That's a most hypocritical statement from him. Damn. "Any old monkey can go all out and play a huge solo." Right. I want to see him play This Dying Soul by Dream Theater, or Sweet Child O` Mine. *Cough*. He'd rather think up guitar parts with enough depth so that people don't get tired of them after hearing them time and time again. So why haven't we heard anything from him with that description? I got tired of Meteora about the 5th time through the album. I still listen to my Led cd's every other day.
Linkin Parks never been a band to really do solo's. I wouldnt mind if they did but it doesnt really matter. I think he plays really good.

Even though I've been one of Brad's biggest advocators in this thread, I agree. It was an incredibly brash comment to make... I mean, if guitarists such as Jimmy Page and John Petrucci are 'any old monkeys' for coming up with mindblowing leads, then what is he? It was a while ago though. I think it's from the interview he did with Total Guitar. I think that some of his earlier work with LP is still cohesive yet good to listen to, but that's just my opinion.
And as proof, i couldnt play a solo for my life, or play four strings that sound good for that matter. And im any old monky
LP arent about solos at all. they have released a fair few tracks now and the closest thing we have got to a 'solo' is APFMH or the intro to By Myself on LIT. and to be honest you cant really class them as solos in there own right. brad said that beacuse LP release a huge amount of singles and they will get air play a hell of a lot. he doesnt want people getting board of them too quick. kids are going to buy their cds and listen over and over, he wants to create a mood and he does this by making his riffs simple and suggestive. it was mentioned before that the guitar parts are probably one of the last parts to be added to the overall track, with a few exceptions. the guitar parts are basically to beef the tracks up. he could probably rip a half decent solo out - but where would it fit in to what LP are making? i cant see them dropping a solo into any song IMO. we will have to wait and see what the new album brings.
I'm sorry but i think brad already has a lot of interesting riff and I'm thinking that your supid  to think that just becz you have been playing guitar for a year that you know more about playing then Brad becz Brad has been playing for years see the s at the end of year yah longer than you have benn playing and the roomers are all supid things ppl says about linin park becz lp is sooooo muck better than them.
