They said that they were going to release this album on an independent label.

Anyways, I used to be a huge Korn fan so i'm going to see how this turns out.

I didn't know Elementree was still around.

As one of the Blabbermouth members posted, so much for the album costing less than usual.

Maybe you misread and read imprint... because KoRn have been talking to all the major labels and want to release it widespread.

Geffen's not that bad of a label, there's worse ones they could have signed with.

I'm pretty sure Deadsy hasn't been on Elementree for a while now. I may be wrong, but I could've sworn they left a while back.

Not really, if you ask me. Geffen doesn't stick with their artists at all, even if it's their fault for a bad output by them. Geffen has done nothing for Instruction (and unfortunately I'm sure they'll drop them soon). They had a possibly huge hit single on their hands with "I'm Dead" and they fumbled it big time.

A bigger fumble I can think of (perhaps one of the worst in the last 5 years) that they had is Sev. You know, the band on the Pepsi Blue commercial with the monks... if they just would've pushed that they could have gone far, but instead Geffen refused to do any promoting for them what-so-ever. Most people don't even know it's Sev that did that song. They were dropped shortly after the commercial, too.

All Geffen wants are sure-fire artists like Ashlee Simpson.

I believe Deadsy is still signed with Elementree and Dreamworks.

Deadsy were cut from Warner Bros./Sire, though.

Geffen = Interscope = Universal, if I remember correctly. You can get good distribution without being on a major.

I think it's just that no independent labels wanted to sign them (it's Korn, come on).

Isn't Geffen part owned by Fred Durst or something?

Anyways, don't be dissin' Interscope. They're releasing some kick-ass CD's this year.

Nah, I just checked... Deadsy hasn't been on Elementree since February of 2004.

Ander: I don't see your point about "You can get good distribution without being on a major."... Geffen is a major label, not an independent one... but I'm not sure if that's what you were referring to.

I think numerous independent labels want to sign them -- what independent label wouldn't? I simply don't see the logic in that. Independent labels are always looking at major artists.

I know. Someone said they were concerned about mass distribution on an independent and I'm like "why are they signing with Geffen then? that's going back on their word." I didn't really want to hold them to it, but I thought they'd actually try to go it alone after getting fulfilling their contract.

Independent labels are always looking at major artists.[/quote] Not necessarily in the right light though. Too many independent labels are reared in this mentality that they're out to fix the record industry and it's wrong doings or whatever and carry these sometimes ignorant vendettas with an incredible vigilence. I kind of agree, with you that they could easily get a place on a non-RIAA backed label, but I doubt that any independent label on the map would sign them just off of the "Y'all Want A Single?" idealism that contradicts everything else they've released, done and participated in on a major level. If you consider Roadrunner independent, then that whole argument is void since they signed Evanescence who are just as mainstream if not more than Korn, but it sticks just about anywhere else. I think they're almost too big to go back to being humble without falling off the radar completely (i.e. sucking so badly/being so old and tired *cough*hair metal bands, i see you Motley Crue* that they'll get a deal anywhere).

Shouldn't judge a CD by the label ;)

I've been told a lot of shit that the band has been experimenting with.

Munky has been tracking 2-3 guitar parts for each song, Fieldy has been on a 6-String Bass for a few songs, and David is using a lot of Double-Bass drums.

I really like how this album is shaping up...whether or not the label is a good move, means nothing to me.

So much for going independant. They just want more exposure so they can get more money. I probably wont be interested in their new CD.

They've sucked since Head left (their XXX movie track was tearfully bad) and going back on their word just makes me dislike them more.
