What was the most recent gig/concert/festival you went to and what rating would you give it. Me: Download festival-10/10 the whole weekend kicked ass.
I'm glad you've made a topic like this. We needed a topic that lets people post their gig reviews and what not, this way people can just continually add to the same topic whenever they have been to a show / gig. Papa Roach 23/06/05 @ London Astoria: This was taken from a journal entry prior to the gig... So i went to see Papa Roach @ London Astoria yesterday. I have a soar throat, a headache, limb pains, i can't stand up straight & i'm half deaf. Yep... the signs of a great gig. I stayed at Olivers the night before and basically walked to Dave & Liams on the Thursday morning. We caught the bus to Derby and just managed to catch the 10:05 train, after some comedic jogging to the train station. The train journey was shortish and we arrived without any problems, we got to the Astoria about 12:30pm and joined the line of about 7-8 people. The waiting process was very fast and went by quickly. We basically ate and took pictures. There was no meeting of the band but i saw them go into the Astoria. The doors opened at about 6:25pm, 5mins early for some reason. The Astoria seemed a lot more organised than usual, they even put the barriers up early. Once inside we grabbed a spot on center left, on the front row. The crowd slowly filled and the first band came on, More Than A Thousand. They screamed, played the same song 5 times and left. Helmet then came on, they were pretty good, but a bit repetative too. After another short wait and some cheering for the huge fans they put up, Papa Roach came on. The crowd was going crazy and they opened with Dead Cell, then followed by Not Listening, M-80, Life Is A Bullet, Getting Away With Murder etc etc. They played the usual hits, unfortunately no; Black Clouds, Blanket Of Fear, SID or Tightrope but that was kinda expected. The show was full of energy and i loved every second of it, definately one of the best gigs ever. We also got a ton of video's & pics. They ended with Between Angels... at the end me, Dave, Liam & Oliver was kinda seperated from each other. Upon leaving we was all soaked through with sweat, so we all took our tops off and walked through London. It was extremely hot & funny. Here is one of the many pictures we took at the gig. Highlights: Jacoby putting a dustbin on his head for the bridge of Born With Nothing, Die With Everything... and then throwing it to the crowd. Jacoby diving into the crowd after Last Resort. Lowlights: Not touching the ground for half of the gig. Too many crowd surfers. Stand-Out songs: Blood Brothers, Broken Home, Not Listening, Harder Than A Coffin Nail (Interlude), Scars, Between Angels & Insects, Born With Nothing... Rating: 10/10 - Everything expected and more, it was a truly awesome show full of energy on the bands part and the crowds too. Amazing.
The last gig I went to was a local punk festival on the weekend. It was hella good. All bands were great from what I heard/saw.
Death By Dawn Tour: From First To Last, He Is Legend, Halifax, Emanuel 9.5/10 - It was a good concert, the music was good, the pit wasn't TOO crazy, the performance was good, but the lead singer of HIL licking the guitarists head was a little wierd. I kind of got killed in the pit, but that has nothing to do with the musical performance, if anything it means they were good. It was great.
The last show I went to was Billy Talent, with The Waking Eyes opening for them. The Waking Eyes are pretty good live, but they didn't get a good sound check, in my opinion. You could hear them, but it was quiet. Didn't know all of the songs they played (Other than Watch Your Money, which sounds a hell of a lot better live), and they ended up playing a Beatles cover somewhere in there. Billy Talent. Wow. They have one hell of a live show. They played through their enitre debut and covered a song by the Buzzcocks. And did I mention it was really loud? I literally couldn't hear or speak by the end of the night.
Summer Sanitarium 2003 (Metallica, Limp Bizkit, Linkin Park, Deftones, Mudvayne) 10/10...it was my first concert, what do you expect...I fucking loved it.
end of school show. 3 local bands: fletch, the collection, meg and dia pictures here http://www.livejournal.com/users/_pyromani...iak_/55403.html it was alright. i talked to 2 of the people in fletch. they were cool. i knew the lead singer/guitarist in the collection back in freshman year. we talked, but not a direct conversation. he pretty much acted like he didnt know me. psh, whatev. the performance was alright, considering the the theater they were in wasnt that suitable for rock bands and the sound balance was off.
Papa Roach on 23/06/05 There were also 2 other good bands called Helmet and More Than A Thousand And like Uncle Raj stated before the highlight of the night was defenatly seeing Coby Dick put the trash can on his head 9/10 because I got hurt in the mosh pit
I did see Romeo and Juliette last night in Derby, which is the most recent thing I've been to that comes close to a gig... seriously, the last one I went to was Funeral For A Friend in Wolverhampton about a year ago. I don't remember most of it, except I had part of one of my trainers torn off, which was nice. As for this year, I'm probably going to Taste Of Chaos in November, and there's still the possibility of Rammstein.
Last concert I went to was Fightstar and Armor for sleep last month. I caught Monobrows towel, lol. I'm also planned to see Korn in August.
Vertigo 2005 Tour: U2 with Special Guest Kings of Leon. Date: April 14, 2005 Location: Glendale Arena in Phoenix, Arizona Time: 7:00 Before the Show: I had been waiting to see this show for long time. We bought the tickets the day they were put on sale. We went through the struggle of line-waiting and we had succeeded. The morning of the show's date, I said to myself, "The day has come," and laughed. I stayed at home the whole day, bragging little by little to my friends about how I was going to my first concert, that being the concert of one the best bands the world has ever known, U2. Hours before, I signed off my computer. We arrived in Scottsdale first to have some Greek food at a restaurant. Afterwards, we drove to Glendale Arena where the parking lot was packed, and as we walked towards the enormous stadium, desperate people stood and asked if people wanted their tickets. We got into the stadium, climbed the escalators to our level, bought our drinks, and we split up to sit in our seats. The Opener: Kings of Leon were the opening band for U2. I had never heard of them before, but I had to say they weren't bad. Unfortunately, the performance contained bad sound and acoustics so most of the time it was a muffled performance. They played about 5 or more songs, and left the stage. 10 minutes later, lights started flashing at my face, and I stood up, along with the thousands of other people. 4 people had took their places on stage. U2: Larry Mullen Jr. immediately opened with his drumming, and from the first beat of his snare, everyone knew what song the 4-man band was opening with; the first single off of their latest album, "How to Dismantle An Atomic Bomb", Vertigo. Bono looked to the crowd and yelled, "Uno, dos, tres, catorce!" and the crowd went wild. Everyone sung along with the legendary singer, and at the chorus they yelled that foreign word, "Hola!" I knew from that moment on the U2 would not fail to please me, nor the thousands of other people who went out of their way to buy tickets. The other songs played afterwards were the more famous hits off of "All That You Can't Leave Behind". Beautiful Day right after Vertigo and then the techno sound of Elevation drove people insane. Throughout all this, people were singing along and dancing. I even started singing along too. The woman next to me talked to me some of the time. It's as if this complete stranger immediately became my friend just because we're both at a U2 concert. It was fantastic. U2 played many more songs, such as New Year's Day and Sunday Bloody Sunday." What really caught my attention was Bono's mention of Africa, and the now popular "ONE Community". He mentioned how we can stop the genocides and diseases. How we could make poverty history. He told us how to join, and I assure you, thousands did. Even me and my brother. It was amazing. The band eventually finished their performance after playing about 22 or 23 songs. I left the stadium with a U2 shirt. I left speechless. The Highlights: When Bono pulled this guy from the crowd, and when he danced with this girl. It was pretty funny. He mentioned their names afterwards/ When the girl next to me started talking to me. When the band faked leaving 2 times and eventually left the third time. Bono's mention of the ONE community. The lowlights: Two people in front of me had been blocking my view for some of time time. I was annoyed by it. Stand-Out Songs: Vertigo, Elevation, Sunday Bloody Sunday, Beautiful Day, New Year's Day, Pride (In the Name of Love), Where the Streets Have No Name, Mysterious Ways, City of Blinding Lights, and Sometimes You Can't Make It On Your Own. Rating: 9.8/10. For my first concert, I was extremely pleased. U2's performance went beyond my expectations. They were absolutely amazing. I said to myself if they come again later, I'm going. Just...amazing.
