Taking Back Sunday has signed with Warner Bros. Records after releasing two albums on Chicago-based indie label, Victory Records. The group will hit the studio in the fall to begin work on their third album and major label debut which will see a release date sometime in 2006.
Out with Linkin Park, in with Taking Back Sunday... Not a smart move for TBS, an excellent move for LP.
Funny, I saw "Taking Back Sunday signs..." on the LPA forum home page and immediately thought "let me guess, Warner?"
Like I said on AP.net.. sucks to be them. I'm totally proud of them, and very happy.. I just hope that Warner doesn't fuck them over like LP.
How so? Popularity-wise?
Nope. Warner is going to force them to make the same style record over and over again.
Nope. Warner is going to force them to make the same style record over and over again.
Amen.
Nope. Warner is going to force them to make the same style record over and over again.
I'm sure that will be the case. But, in my opinion, "Meteora" and "Hybrid Theory" were nowhere near as similar as people make them out to be. But, "Hybrid Theory" and "Reanimation" were similar (obviously), and "Reanimation" and "Meteora" were similar, making it the "transition" album. I think it was all in the producing and mixing, though.
Oh noes! They better quit Warner Bros. right now and go back to that indie label where they made less money!
I think you just contradicted yourself (at least, for the band's sake).
Well, it'll be great for the band, but it might hurt the reputation.
Doesn't Indie-music mean independent label? (Yes, I'm aware of the stupidity of what I just said) If they signed onto Warner Bros. I guess they're no longer Indie.
Well, "Indie" music can mean an independent label, but a lot of people (myself included) classify "indie" as a genre based on sound, too.

That's exactly what Warner is going to do with TBS, especially since TBS is built on witty lyrics about ex's and whatnot (listen to TAYF, listen to WYWTB.. same idea pretty much even though i LOVE the cds) and manufacture it over and over.
