Title: High Tension (Haute Tension in France, Switchblade Romance) Release Date: June 10, 2005 (United States) Wow, this is one of the genres I actually wish they can revive...the R rated 80's splatter flicks...fuck the plot, fuck the cheap PG-13 scares. Just go for the premartial sex, lots of language, and definitely tons of blood and gore. This seems to be the case with a movie that is about to be released in the US called High Tension (or Switchblade Romance, a much better title. Seems to be that this movie was made and released in France and bought during the Cannes Film Festival. Well this movie is about two female students, Marie and Alex (which the former is lesbian), set off to Alex's parent's secluded homestead in the country to relax and study. Come nightfall, Hell pulls up at the front door. Alex is now bound and gagged, taken off, with Marie eluding the intruder. Can she save her friend's life in time? Or is everything all that it seems... I bet it sucks, actually. How a movie can go from a gore induced NC-17 to an R rating and remain a good horror flick is beyond me. If it's good, okay. I'll just wait for the unrated DVD, just like I am with Land Of The Dead.
