Alright decided to create an "Official Audioslave Topic" to avoid the troble of creating new topics for new bits of Audoslave news. Anyway. Posted on audioslave.com You can also sample the tracks on audioslave.com(Make sure you have a fast internet connection)
Out of Exile is a great album, I managed to download it when it leaked my favourite track would have to be Yesterday to Tomorrow. I still think Morello is wasting his talent though and that he was doing far better in Rage... But thats just my opinion.
indeed. His style hasn't change, he plays solos that suit the style of music Audioslave play. Anyway my review: The only song that sounds like it could be on the first CD would be the albums opener Your Time Has Come which has a rockin' riff and a good rhythm about it. Following that comes the albums title track, Out of Exile, with a military drum beat to start things off then Morello breaks into a huge riff which carries into a slower verse and explodes into a great Cornell chorus. Morello's trademark whammy gets a workout in this song but the solo doesn't neccesarily suit the song but none the less it it is a quite amazing piece of guitar work. Audioslave's radio hit Be Yourself comes up next which is quite possibly the weakest song on the album but still comes across as a very good song. Next up is the amazing Doesn't Remind Me. It starts off with a country-esque verse and then breaks into an incredibly chorus which explores a different side of the band. Morello pulls off another incredible solo which suits the song perfectly. Cornell's vocals hold together perfectly on this track. Suddenly some slower guitar work starts and then errupts into Cornell screaming the verses in a fast, up-vibe sort of way. The song holds up well until the very end where we see the vocals of Cornell get a work out, showing his raspier sound. Drummer Brad Wilk is at his best with this track. His sound is solid and stands out much more. Then we are hit with a slower ballad in the form of Heaven's Dead which highlights how far Chris Cornell's vocals have come since their debut. He sounds amazing on this song. He knows where to lift his voice and knows where to use his mellower tone. This song evolves into a medium pace song when the rest of the band become more obvious towards the end. Then comes the heavy rocker "The Worm". This is a Black Sabbath type song with a heavy chorus with Cornell screaming the words "Halo, I'm Complete". Tim's Bass sound is very complete in this song with some very solid drumming from Wilk. Man or Animal is the fastest song on the album which starts off with a scratching guitar noise then moves into a great Morello riff with Cornell belting out some great vocals during the verse. It then slides into an epic chorus with Cornell almost chanting the words "Man or Animal". This is an incredible song that features the band at it's peak. Yesterday to Tomorrow is a a softer ballad which is another standout song which proves Audioslave can be at their best while still playing softer music. Dandelion explores some brand new territory for both Cornell and the band. This is one of the more happier songs on the album with a up-beat verse with some more positive lyrics. Cornell goes into a high pitch bridge showing he still has his range with him. #1 Zero starts off as a slow song with Cornell showing his mellower voice. The song slowly evolves into a heavier and faster song which features a great solo from Morello. The Curse is a great closing song for the album with a good vibe and an amazing job by the band on this one. It features a great little guitar stint before the bridge which encourages you to look back on what has been an amazing CD.
I don't really see how he's wasting his talent. His rythm is pretty much the same, his riffs have improved greatly, and there are a ton of solos in Audioslave songs -- more per album than per Rage album, I would guess. Anyways, my favorites off the new CD: "Dandelion", "Doesn't Remind Me", "Out Of Exile", "Your Time Has Come", "Heaven's Dead"
Yeah, he did amazing in Rage, but he does amazing on this album as well. So what if he's the same, he's different from every other guitar player that decides to pick up a 7-string.
You are right man!
i love the solo in #1 Zero. I love how that song develops from a mellow song into a heavy rocker. Brilliant B)

so what did you think of the album. Better than Frances or Teeth?
It falls in after those two. I didn't expect Audioslave to beat The Mars Volta, but it was possible they could have beaten NIN for the #2 spot on my 2005 list, but they get #3.
Doesn't Remind Me is ticking my clock at the moment. I have to listen to the whole album through at this stage. It flows much better than the first.
