Rhetorical question. Are the lyrics in mash-ups supposed to have something in common? I mean, I've heard mash-ups of Sean Paul and Outkast, Kelis and Micheal Jackson, The Beatles and The Beastie Boys to name a few.

Not really, there aren't any set rules for mash-ups, as long as it sounds cool.

I mean, an example I use a lot, The Beatles and Jay-Z's mash-up through Dangermouse is completely different than any other mash-up. It uses Jay-Z acapellas and Beatles music from the White Album. In that case no Beatles lyrics were used (except for the occasion song...)

All that matters is if it sounds cool. Otherwise, what's the point?

I don't like Collision Course is lacks in many of the songs. Jay-z does not give any of the power that the songs orginaly had. I don't like some Mash-ups becuase most of the songs that get mashed-up they lose their special qualities that we came to know and love. I also lothe Jay-z i think this Album was a waste of Album i think LP should make a Remix Album on Meteora that would be AWESOME!

Now I don't mean that LP is bad,but I just hate that mash-up.
I really really love Linkin Park's ...usual music/songs,and I really enjoyed ReAnimation too,but CC was just soo not LP.
The lyrics didn't match at all,I mean the rap lyrics and original Linkin Park lyrics. They weren't 'talking' about the same subject at all.

    I don't have CC(borrowed my friends album.),and I really don't plan buying it either.

Though I'm really waiting for their next album. :D

This is so relevant, I just had to repost it into this topic.
    ----
Okay something that's been getting me is how so many people complain about the lyrics not matching, or how one song is ruining the other... but listening to it like that is just wrong. A mash-up IS NOT SUPPOSED TO MATCH. THAT IS NOT THE POINT OF A MASH-UP. IT'S SUPPOSED TO BE A FUN PROJECT. Like what Dangermouse did with Jay-Z and the Beatles.

To fully enjoy the musicality and creative genius of the CD, I recommend you do this.

Get Jay-Z's albums, Linkin Park's albums, and Collision Course.

First, listen to Lying From You by LP.
Then listen to Dirt Off Your Shoulder by Jay-Z.

Then listen to the mash-up of it.

    Rinse, repeat.

The project is fun because it takes songs you usually wouldn't see together and meshes them into a new animal.

The best way to see how two different songs can be different is Numb and Encore.

    That's my 2 cents.

Wow, I didn't think this would still be up here.

@MinusXero: You got the point across. I understand what you are saying, but is it okay if I just don't like it?

Don't really like it but i think it was something they had to do, to get more connections to make Fort Minor, i'll wait till FM comes out then i'll see what i think is true.
Hope FM is going to be good cause Collision Course was bad.

Collision course is garbaeg. It lacks the thing that helped LP to the top-rock. It's that simple, Lp's no longer a rock band. Mike Shinoda is absolute genius and he was the one responsible for all the tiny bits of hip-hop that made their other songs such hits. But LP had one thing that Jay-Z lacked, melody.

The melody was missing. Collisions always leads to destruction.
[Now playing in wmp: Easier to run, what a song!]
Mr. Shinoda can go off with fort minor, but he needs to add the bit of hip hop so carefully and brilliantly placed so it blends in with the rest of the songs.

This is turning out to be another reanimation. LP should write a set of songs and spend more time on writing new songs and releasing the songs.

You DO know they didn't get any cash, right?

When you have Warner, Jay-Z's label (which name evades me at the moment), AND MTV a part of it... it's kinda hard to get money when all three of them are in the deal as well.
