I would've probably cried if I had to do that. They could just do a frog. :wth: I digested a frog last week, and I understand the digestive system just fine now. But a dog? That's just wierd.

Jumping on the opposite here... It's just a dog. Dogs are animals. Humans eat animals.(Most, anyway) If it were a cow or frog or something, there wouldn't be a news article about it.
I honestly don't see the problem with it. However, if they were going to use a dog that was alive I would agree with the practice more if it were done on an older dog that were on the verge of being put down anyway from a pound or something. In that case, I don't mind. Besides the smell it'd be pretty cool for biology students.
