Music industry executive John Shalit has warned Linkin Park that they may end up with nothing by attempting to be released from their contract at Warner Bros. Records. The band claims that Warner Music Group's new Initial Public Offering is a ploy for investors to get rich while artists, who are the product of the company, get no benefits. Shalit offered; "I think Linkin Park are being opportunistic. If I was their manager I would quietly be giving them a healthy warning. I'd be saying 'Don't be too clever - this marketplace moves very fast these days and you can fall off pretty quickly.' Linkin Park run the risk of being martyrs and martyrs often end up with nothing." That's just another look at the many perspectives this controversy has heralded. Source: ContactMusic.com In related news, Warner's IPO fell 7.3% in it's first day (yesterday), which can be contributed in part to uncertainty over Linkin Park's further involvement with the company.
This has just pissed me off  EDIT: What I originaly wrote here was a load of bullshit which I probably said because Warner Bros are corperate assholes who only care about exploiting talented artists for money so I deleted it
ya last time i checked , LP was one of the most successful artists of the last 4 years, I'm pretty sure they could find a lable more than willing to help LP recoup any losses from a disbute w/ WB
No, they said nothing like that.
Yeah I did kind of lash out there a little bit,I was just a little angry about the news and probably didn't have a clue what I was saying,Sorry '
No, they said nothing like that.
martyr: a person who sacrifices something of great value and especially life itself for the sake of principle. Mark is correct. An artist would have to be signed to WB and be sticking up for their belief that the IPO is worth leaving to be a martyr. As for the 7.3% drop... Sweetness.
Yah I'm glad to see Warner took a huge hit with that 7.3% drop. But what a bunch of crap, Warner is scared to loose LP and now they are gonna try anytihng into "scaring" them and staying with the label.
First off... try looking up John Shalit on the internet. I can't find a thing on the guy. Second, this guy's threat is a load of 'Shalit.'
All this says to me is that Warner is scared shitless. They don't want to lose Linkin Park and they're trying to scare them into not backing out.

And by thread, I meant threat. Record companies... so used to using scare tactics to control their artists... Let's see how LP works through it.
WB must be scared of losing them if they need to warn them, LP will get through this and WB will regret their decisions when LP keeps making hit albums.
i mean lp has thought about their decision before making it, so they already measure the risk or stuff like this. so i don't think they will be scared by WB.
