Yeah, I can't find a link to the story yet, but I heard on CNN that someone threw a grenade at George Bush while he was giving a speech in Georgia, but the person forgot the undo the pin. Secret Service didn't know about it until Bush had left the stage. They're apparently investigating it as we speak. Yeah, and can we keep the assassination and death wishes on Bush to a minimum, please? Even if I'm not a Bush supporter, wishing the grenade would have exploded is just plain wrong. EDIT: It's on News.Yahoo as breaking news. Details are coming. http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/7781473/
I can see the motives behind attacks like these, But i don't wish that the grenade went off..Like Casey said, It's just plain wrong.
The grenade wasn't the scary part...it was what would of happened when it went off...and I don't mean to Bush, Cheney would be president, God help us all!!! It was weird because I was watching the news this morning as they were talking about the speech he was going to give and something similiar crossed my mind that something might happen, maybe I have ESP lol.
I doubt anyone is stupid enough to not pull the pin. Wait, I mean no one other than Bush himself is that stupid. Whoever threw it purposely didn't pull the pin I'm pretty sure.
Cheney would be a better president than Bush anyhow. I mean Cheney is pretty much controlling Bush now as it is. But I dont wish death upon anyone.
That comment made absolutley no sense in my opinon. Glad the pin wasn't pulled out though. Great publicity stunt, I will give that to the guy that threw the grenade.
Or to show that they were unaware of what terror threat level color they were really on.
I think that's a good point.
I agree with the controlling part, but Cheney is a lot more dangerous. His wife thinks there is too many political protests on college campuses and also believes that history hasn't focused enough on white men...these are far far right views; if Cheney had his way slavery would come back, abortion would be banned, we would declare war on everyone we didn't like in power, and basic freedoms in the Bill of Rights would be gone. Of course he wouldn't have absolute power thanks to checks and balances, but I'm sure he has his fantasies. Also remember too that Bush is an idiot which makes him a bit more safe, Cheney isn't and knows what he can get away with (such as the "Nuclear Option" that enables Democrats to be silenced while extreme right wing judges take over our courts)
<!--QuoteBegin--msnbc@7:58 p.m. ET May 10, 2005 Georgian government denies incident Guram Donadze, spokesman for the Georgian Interior Ministry, said no hand grenade was thrown close to Bush. “This is an absolute lie. This did not occur,” Donadze told The Associated Press. The Secret Service said it could not independently confirm whether a device was thrown at the president and whether it was a real hand grenade or a fake. It said it was investigating the incident, along with the FBI, the State Department and Georgian authorities.
We'll have to see how it turns out. But of course their government would deny it, that's terrible PR in this new "democracy". I'm guessing that it was a sick joke or somebody really did try it, either way it's a serious matter.
Well, at least they didn't throw pretzels. I agree with those who think that someone was just trying to make a scene.
Whoever was stupid enough to throw a grenade without pulling the pin deserves to be blown up themselves. Unless.. They threw it into the crowd, hoping someone would knock out the pin when they were LONG gone.
