I know I saw this in one topic, but it may have been deleted. Anyway, Part of me and Carousel DO have demos. If any of you have heard them, what do you think of them? are they better than the ones released on the album?

I actually like the Carousel demo better than the album song, Part of me comes up close, but it's lacking some of the lyrics that really give it the edge that the album one has.

Personally, I prefer the Part of Me demo over the EP version. I think it just sounds better with Chester screaming "cut myself free" instead of Mike just rapping it. It's close, but that's what does it for me.

As for Carousel, that's really close also. I don't think I can decide. The EP version is cleaner cut, and sounds better overall, but the demo has the part with Mike where he says "Just follow me", and that's what I really like about the demo. So for Carousel, I can't decide.

I like the demos of those songs more than the EP cut too...pretty much for the same reasons...I actually like most of their demos more than the actual album cut, but that might be because it's so cool to hear my favorite songs with different lyrics, parts, etc.

I prefer the demos versions too. I think the reason they are of higher quality are because they were recorded after Hybrid Theory EP and were actually b-sides to Hybrid Theory, along with And One. So in a sense they are Hybrid Theory demos, they we're changed/remastered but not selected. If you view my post in the non-album forum about the demo disc these are on you'll also see that many of the Hybrid Theory demos exist on here too (untitled, poa, crawling, etc)

There is not one demo i've heard from them that sounds of higher quality than the actual version (maybe I misinterpreted your post). As for me, I'm in the middle about it. Sometimes I like hearing the demos and sometimes I like hearing the real version. But then again, I got sick of the HTEP. The only song that I can still listen to is Secret (or ambient).

I prefer the demo versions because the band experimented more on those. But when it came to recording them on an album, they got conservative and made them cleaner but edited them a lot.

Bands should just do what they want. I don't understand why they need to be so restricted.

Actually, the 'demo' versions were recorded AFTER the HT EP came out, and was on the 9 track sampler along with Super Xero and the like.

    Oh, I didn't know that.

I have one of Linkin Park's demo CD's. It has Esaul and By Myself on it.

The first Carousel and Part of Me songs that I got I believed were the ones from the EP. However, I recently found out they were the demos and then I got the EP versions. I'm favoring the EP versions because they're newer and more exciting to me right now. They're obviously better produced than the demos as well. So I'd say right now I prefer the EPs.

the carousel demo owns the htep version.. the part of me demo is great with chester screaming "cut myself free" and where they replaced "everytime i see myself theres always somethin wrong with me" with chester singing sounds great but i dont think i prefer the demo over the htep version..
    carousel demo > htep version
part of me htep version > demo

I think the carousel demo is way better than the version found on HTEP simply because the additional section of the song made it that much more powerful.
    To me at least.

I haven't heard the demo's, but I do love Carousel and Part of Me. I wish they would start playing them live and such again, it's like they shun the whole EP Album as a whole.

They've played a medley of Step Up/It's Goin Down/Nobody's Listening live, and that wasn't that long ago. So don't say they haven't played anything off of the EP recently.

All demos are great...they should have kept the demos...
