i want to know the name of the machine he uses during some songs....its known for Numb "the cool sounds" and looks like a laptop/piano.. i want to know where i can get one, or if i can create my own out of other stuff...
It's an Akai MPC 2000. You can buy one here, along with at many other music-related sites I'm sure, just look for stuff under DJ Gear and search for Akai products. Unfortunately they're really expensive, but you can find similar products for less money. That's just the one that Joe uses.
I could be wrong, but I'm pretty sure that that's just playing the samples that he's programmed in there, not playing songs like a piano.
It's sort of a piano type thing actually. The little square pads in the top right corner each register a different note, and he changes settings on it to get different sounds, so that's what he uses to play stuff like the In the End piano, the intro to Crawling, etc.
Yup. It's called a sampler. Joe programs the sounds into the sampler, and selects which button plays each note. Joe and Mike each have about four of them in LIT.
holy crap its expensive!!! well, i found one but idunno if it will work. check it out, and let me know if it can work.. http://www.platinum-records.com/NEXT-DJS-2...24-prod6434.htm
I wouldn't know what works really, I'm not a DJ or even close, I just know what Joe uses, that's all.
WOOOOOOOOOOOOOW,WHAT KINDA OF MONEY FOR THAT PIECE OF PLASTIC WITH BUTTONS THAT MAKE NOISE...GOD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!oh,well joe has got the money,so he's got the sampler, since i don't have the money...
The ones they use in LIT are only MIDI controllers. It's called an AKAI MPD16. Since it's just a MIDI controller, it has no sounds/samples on board. You have to hook it up through MIDI (To either another MPC, or you're computer) and load your sounds in a program that comes with the MPD16 to trigger them. In LIT, he had his MPD16 hooked up to his older MPC machines, which have the sounds (In the end piano, crawling samples etc.) to trigger them. Now, Linkin Park for the most part manipulate all of the stock sounds so no one can use their stuff. So you won't find any Linkin Park sounds on any of these machines. The reason why you would get a MPD16 is too record drum machine parts in real time (Instead of copying and pasting). Instead of having to buy a MPC (which is VERY expensive), they give you a way to use your own sounds from different programs, while being able to use they're pressure sensitive pads. You can use an electric piano as a MIDI controller, but since the key has to be pushed all the way down, it's kind of tricky to lay down the track. The pads are good because they are pressure sensitive, but they are set in place. Probably more information then you wanted/needed but o well lol. Anyway, My suggestion: Get a program like Reason which is loaded with samples, get a cheap MIDI controller Piano, and you're ready.
Yeah, Mike and Joe use Samplers an awful lot. I've noticed that they use it in Crawling, Numb, and In the End. As tasta said, that's the equipment that he uses. And it is very expensive. Get something for less money. Cheaper doesn't always mean worse.
