    Linkin Park are set to perform at Prince's upcoming fourty-seventh birthday bash in his hometown of Minneapolis, Minnesota. The event is set to take place at his hometown estate on the outskirts of the Minnesotan capital on June 7th. Prince had the following to say about LP;

    "...Linkin Park have always been, to me, a refreshing new band in what's become a squallid music industry. They've livened up a slumbering rock scene in recent years, and I admire that in them. I got a chance to see them perform when our summer tours last year crossed paths in Kansas, and they are a great, exciting live band. Just what I need for this celebration."

    Mike Shinoda, Linkin Park emcee, also commented on the invitation.

    "Well, we weren't thinking of doing any live shows this year. I've got a hip-hop side-project kind of thing coming out of the woodworks in the summer and we've been touring heavily for five years straight with very little relaxation time. But when I got the call from our management saying Prince wanted a live band for his birthday celebration, I almost jumped out of my seat with excitement. Prince is a such a huge inspiration to me and to be recognized by him like this is just, you know, wild."

    Celebrities along the likes of Bette Midler, Stevie Wonder, Diane Keaton, Tom Cruise, Michael and Janet Jackson, Justin Timberlake, and Lance Bass are expected to appear. Clay Aiken is also scheduled to perform.

    More details will be released as they become available.

    Sweet.

    What are they going to play? Their old songs or some of their new songs they're making [if any are ready that is]?

    Most likely older ones. I don't think they have anything recorded yet.

    I'd love to hear a "Purple Rain" cover.

    It's cool to hear Prince say nice things about LP, also its refreshing that Mike cleared up some things for us. No tour this year, most likely no LP album, but the good news is that Mikes solo disc is coming out in the summer.

    i dont know if its true or not, but if yes, its a tragic thing to me. obviously linkin park have become a so much nice band, that those fucking celebrities invite them to their dumb birthday parties to play on. i mean, thats linkin park. they played ozzfest shows and stuff, they should be known as one of those heavy bands along with korn or disturbed or whatever. but no, they've become the complete opposite of this. look at the guest list: there are even members of nsync, what the hell are linkin park doing there? prince is surely a good musician, dont get me wrong. but linkin park dont match or fit in their little great world with lots of bling bling and money. or i am wrong and they just try to get in there. they play nu-metal music, take a look at "hybrid theory". none of the songs off of this record fit to this party. i dont even know what they should play there. maybe they'll just play bth, numb and shit. and thats not linkin park. they've sold themselves for a big lie.

    fucking stars

    It is clearly a joke. The link doesn't relate to the Linkin Park article they claim to be at MTV, it just links to a "leave feedback on the article page" which could be for any news article.

    Not a very good April Fools LPA, try again next year. :lol:
    I hope this isn't true, for my sake.
