I was wondering since Chris Cornell both lead sings for both bands which you prefered.

At this stage im inclined to say Audioslave but the new album will be the final knife in Soundgardens coffin if its any good.

    (although i still love SG)

Soundgarden. They were my favorite band as a kid, and nothing Audioslave makes could ever live up to "Black Hole Sun".

At least give Audioslave 5 albums to try to meet up with "Black Hole Sun".

    Rage Against the Machine.

    ...

Soundgarden. Since this is distinguised solely on vocals (I'm guessing), I'd have to say Cornell's voice was a lot more distinguised in Soundgarden.

Don't bring Rage up... :'( I miss them so badly.

I like Audioslave a lot. "Like A Stone" is a poor man's "Black Hole Sun". It is FAR too early to compare the two bands. Soundgarden has almost as many hits as Audioslave has songs total. Way too early.

To be quite honest I preferred Chris cornell best when he did his side project uner the name of "Temple of the Dog." But yah Soundgarden is definitely better than Audioslave although I really like Audioslave and am looking forward to their new material. Chris Cornall is just one really talented person and no matter what he touches it turns to gold.

    Tom Morello makes Audioslave better.

    Soundgarden.

I remember when they broke up, they were supposed to be on stage for a show in NY and they said Chris was "sick", but they broke up the next day

Agreed. Tom's good but he uses a ton of effects to make himself sound space-age and stuff.

    Rage>Soundgarden>Audioslave.

You can't beat Chris' vocal range on Soundgarden tracks but you can't beat Rage's energy and stage presence.
