"Numb/Encore" Certified Gold

    Linkin Park & Jay-Z's mash-up "Numb/Encore" from their collaborations album 'Collision Course' has been certified gold by the RIAA. This signifies a collective total of over 500,000 units shipped to stores in stores, along with the number of legal downloads from the intenret (iTunes, Napster, etc). This is an applaudible accomplishment for a single, so congrats LP!

    thats kinda crazy that they have to make a single with jay-z to get a gold single, but good job never the less

    I'm not surprised.

    Over here in the UK, Numb/Encore has not left the Top 20 since it's release and if you know anything about the UK charts, you'll know that's quite a feat these days. And just recently I heard Numb/Encore was the top-selling single in Europe for a week or two. People can't seem to get enough of it!

    Lol, you should mention that just a couple weeks ago, mid-january I believe, billboard started factoring in "legal downloads" from major sources like iTunes. So a download of Numb/Encore counts as a sale or shipment...So Numb/Encore got a leg-up on going gold compared to past singles.

    It's going to be really easy for singles (popular ones) to go gold now, so hopefully they'll continue their streak with their next singles going gold.
