I cant play any music videos on my winamp if the name is blabla.mpg or blabla.m2v. But .mpeg does work. On my brother's profile Winamp can play the files and he doesnt have any problems with it :'(
Hmm. Ok, can you play it in windows media player or any other player? If not it may be a codec problem.
I cant play it in the new Windows Media Player but i can play it in the old Windows Media Player, but then the sound is really crappy. I made a mistake too i CAN play mpg but not mpeg.
What version of Windows Media player do you have? Maybe an upgrade will give you codecs that you are missing. What type of file are you playing? If it's a ripped music vid or movie, you will need to download DivX and XVid. Actually, just look on like p2p or bittorrent for a 'codec pack'.
But if i download the upgrade for WMP, what about Winamp? Because i kinda hate wmp because of the bad sound
It's not winamp or anything like that. I think your computer lacks the 'codecs' to play the video. Basically all codecs do are decode the video so you can watch it. Installing or upgrading WMP could install useful ones that you are missing, therefore any program on your computer (including winamp) will be able to use these codecs. If you want to wait about 10 hrs, I'll be @ my dad's then and I can send you some codecs over MSN... If you're not already on my list, my email address is in my sig.
...How much spam do you get in that account? You know spam bots just pick up that email and add it to their spam list...right? But then again, it's GMail...you won't see spam one way or another. [/offtopic] What error does WMP show?
I sent him a link to VideoLAN player. It's a player that will pretty much play anything at last resort and has capabilities of broadcasting movies over a LAN. www.videolan.org/vlc/
I'm prtety sure Winamp is incapable of playing m2v files. They're usually played in PowerDVD, or another DVD watching program.
might wanna give Media Player Classic: http://sourceforge.net/project/showfiles.p...ackage_id=84358 That's what I use to watch ALL my videos on, like MOV, WMV, even Real.
I don't know if this is the same as you're talking about, but you should already have a 'classic' version of windows media player installed. Start>>Run>> type: mplayer2
