I think that the swastika was misused. It is forever ruined.

I'm not so sure. True, it was used in a sacrilegious way, but to ruin a holy symbol forever? The Hindus had nothing to do with Nazi Germany. Sure, it'll take a lot of public education and many years before people stop spazzing whenever they see it, but let them have their symbol back.

It's not the symbol that did the wrong, but the people who wielded it.

Also, the proper swastika, the symbol facing the right, isn't the one that was ruined. I think they should still be allowed to use it. They have a relgious right to.

I think banning a symbol is stupid. A swastika, no matter which way it's facing, has no direct connection to crimes against Jews. It's a symbol, not a sign. To ban a the swastika won't do any good, it will simply be another banned symbol.

They do have a right to use it of course, but using it again might paint a bad image of Hinduism for less well-informed people. It would probably be akin to how Islam has been viewed by a minority since 9/11.

But doesn't anyone else think it's fucking scary that the government wants to ban a symbol? That's like banning the letter "a" because it was found to be common in Hitler's speeches. It's ridiculous.

Symbols themselves have NOTHING to do with the hate crimes that have been associated with them. It's like how here in America some schools have bans on kid's wearing hooded sweatshirts because of the gang associations. Banning hooded sweatshirts won't break up a gang, it just stops people from wearing hooded sweatshirts.

I want to know from everybody out here tell me if a person murders another person using a knife as a means to do it, will you :

    1) Ban the usage of knife coz it was used to kill a person

    2) Punish the person who used the knife to kill another person

I hope you all are getting my point. I mean now nobody seems to be holding Harry responsible for doing this instead blaming Swastika (w00t)

Swastika is a very very ancient symbol of well being to Hindus and jus coz Nazis used it doesnt nullify this truth, and even if prince Harry used it in ignorance why blame Swastika for it. And morever Hitler didnt ask the permission of Hindus before using Swastika as his symbol, so why make Hindus(for that matter any religion) suffer coz of all this shit.

I live in India and here the general opinion is-
'Who gave the Europeans the right to ban something that is not theirs in the first place?'

Even thought i am a Catholic i agree that the symbol should not be banned.Besides prince harry wore the nazi outfit as the theme of the party was Evil.Who could be more evil than Hitler?

And if they still want to go ahead and ban it then they should ban other things that remind us of the terror that the poor Jews faced for instance Hitler's Autobiography Mein Kamph,Slayer's songs Angel of Death,SS-3.

thats kind of ironic how it was a good luck symbol that wards off evil for the hindus....and how it was the very sign of evil that was wore when millions were killed by the Germans. but i think that the hindus should still be able to use it. they had it before the germans ruined its meaning, and even then it was a mirror image. so i think they have the right to use it because of what it represents for them in their religion.
