What are your opinions on censorship?

I am 100% against censorship. I believe that we don't receive full freedom of speech even though people think we have it.

I hate teachers who try to stop getting people to swear. They say ahem when they hear you swear. I'll just say..."fuck you, you're not clearing your throat bitch" just to make it worse.

No Censorship = Naked Pics in Ads Seen Daily.

    No thank you.

Censorship is one of those lose-lose situations. Compromises just disappoint both sides.

Not neccesarily, in fact, I'd doubt that would happen.

I'd love to see an end to censorship, but we'd have to kill off the religious right first.

Censorship in music is the biggest thing that annoys me. I don't see why you should censor things that are only words. They're going to hear it soon enough so why shelter them from it?

Censorship on films and stuff though i can understand at times. It's the kind of things that you can see in films that i can understand people wanting to only show like 15/18 year olds. some inoccent little kid doesn't really want to be exposed to a big raunchy sex scene i don't think. Or violent scenes for that matter.

I think there needs to be a certain amount of censorship. If I had a four year old kid I wouldn't want them telling other kids they were "fucking cunts" etc. So I think public radio should have certain words censored (exactly which ones is another debate all together). I also think that TV should have a certain amount of censorship, although less then radio because TV shows usually have a rating. And I think live TV (aka Bono's "fucking awesome" slip) should be exempt from these stupid lawsuits because if it's a live program, that's just the risk you take.

One could argue that radio is live too, but radio doesn't have a neat guide that can be seen with the touch of a button or two that tells you just what the program is.

Censorship in music is getting rediculous. Censorship on TV is getting rediculous too. Somebody can't even say "up the tailpipe."

I've always wondered what makes a word a bad word. Shit and crap, fuck and screw pretty much have the exact same meanings. Why is one perfectly OK to say and another isn't? It doesn't make any sense to me. And whats wrong with tits too, its not like its going to hurt anyone by letting them be seen on TV. Its a body part for christs sakes, you might as well blur out an arm. And again, the whole Janet Jackson nipple thing; everyone has 2 nipples unless you're deformed, so why are they off limits on TV? If a kid wants to see nipples, they can take off their shirt and look in a mirror. Now I better shut up before religious conservatives want to ban mirrors too

    I totally agree!

On the Sum 41 DVD that came with Does This Look Infected, they blurred out random things.

The difference between fuck and screw is that if you break your leg, you say "fuck!" not "screw!"

I heard the word "bitch" on TV yesterday and it pissed me off that they could say that, but not many many other minor things that people wouldn't mind hearing. I can't stand these people who censor!

    1. i dont really believe in censorship
    2. our censorship is totally fucked up anyway

i think that if there is going to be "explicet" material a.k.a something you dont want ur 5 year old sister watching. there should be a warning at the beging of the show or after the ads.

i think it is TOTALLY fucked up that a kid can see someone's head being blown off in guesome detail, and they cant see a pair of tits or someone pretending to have sex.
everyone is gonna have sex at some point (at least most) and EVERYONE has seen a pair of tits in their life. but how many ppl are gonna see someone's head be blown off? and if they do, would that the a HELL of a lot more tramatizing than getting laid?

i dont like all the violence on tv, but i dont mind sex. everyone is human, and most animals reproduce through sex. it is compleatly natural.

    and this stupid music thing...grr
on Reanimation it really made me mad when like one word was bleeped out. its not like everyone doesnt know EXACTLY what they are saying! i mean, its fine if you have the option i guess, and i think a warning is a good idea for those easily offended. but im not so sure about all these age limits and crap.

idk. it should be ur decsion whether or not you want to be exposed to it...

It's fucking bullshit (see, censorship can suck my dick!) It's getting out of hand for some things and I would love to just have a protest against the FCC and the RIAA about this! If parents have a problem with it, then DON'T MAKE THEIR KIDS WATCH IT, LISTEN TO IT, OR PLAY WITH IT!
