http://www.bushblackout.com http://www.black-thursday.com This is something I'm going to be participating in, depsite the fact that it may not do anything..I feel my point needs to be made.
Jesus Christ. Liberals give Democrats a bad name. I might've been pulling for Kerry but Bush won. Get the FUCK over it. Doing that shit won't do a damn thing. You're foolish if you think it will.
THANK YOU WILL! I'm so sick of seeing these "mock inagurations for Kerry" or "not one damn dime" things popping up left and right. Do these liberals really thing ANY of their protesting is going to make a difference? Do they think the government is gonna put Kerry in office instead, when Bush won by more than 3 million votes? I know some of you hate Bush with a passion and I know some of you were really hoping for Kerry, and I'm okay with that. But do you really think any of these stupid protests are going to make a difference? Regardless of what you do, you will still be under Bush for four more years. Some of you still hold a grudge from Gore, yet if he went through Lieberman would have gotten rid of all of your violent video games and parental advisory CDs. You're forgetting Gore's wife is the infamous Tipper Gore, the lady who has made offensive/free-spoken artists' life a living hell. Lets not forget her long running battle with Eminem.
Yeah you guys are right. Not buying anything will only hurt yourself. It won't do anything to the economy.
Okay, fine. I wasn't going to wax sarcastic but it seems like I may be forced to. Let me make one thing clear--I don't think that I'm changing anything. One impoverished college kid wields zero power in the greater arena of politics. However, it is in our most basic American freedoms to be able to express our displeasure with the government. I suppose that I'm a moron for doing so.
No one said that you are a moron, and no one said that you do not have the right to protest. Like I said to you in the PM, I just feel that there are much better ways to protest than this.
I can bet he still wouldn't have murdered hundreds of thousands of people. And 9/11 wouldn't of happened.
I told you that it wasn't going to do anything. Regardless, I'm still doing a silent protest against it, whether it accomplishes something or not.
I can bet he still wouldn't have murdered hundreds of thousands of people. And 9/11 wouldn't of happened.
I'm willing to bet 9/11 would have happen under any President. Not everything is Bush's fault you know.
I'm willing to bet 9/11 would have happen under any President. Not everything is Bush's fault you know.
Sure it is. The ignored FBI messages by Ashcroft, the lack of action on FBI briefings, especially the August 6th memo, by Bush. There's also how he planned to cut the countertterrorism budget by billions a day before the attacks happened, showing he shared little interest for preventing any sort of massive terrorist attack.
Yes, but it still would have happened under Gore if he was President. It would have happen to anyone, it just so happens that Bush just didn't give a fuck about it. It was still going to happen, no matter the "regime" America was under.
Could have would have should have, it's all irrelevant speculation. It DID happen under Bush, and as the president he's expected to A. Help prevent such happenings IF possible, and B. React accordingly, responsible, and appropriately to the situation. Whether or not he failed at that is what should be debated. And if you all criticise this act of protest so much, and as Will said, there are better ways, what would you personally recommend? I refuse to take a settlists view on this, and I will demonstrate not against Bush, but against our government as a whole by not spending any money.
Marching would be one way. But not spending any money? That's just silly.
Marching...hmmm. That's kind of out of the question for me, seeing as I am stuck in small-town Wisconsin attending classes every day, with no car. This is something much closer to home, that anyone can partake of.
I disagree. Measures could've been put in place to follow up on intelligence (intelligence of which the military and government boast as the best in the world) and it could've been prevented if they gave a damn about stopping it. As I said before, I believe Gore, having the experience of being vice-president for eight years (unlike Bush, who ran all his businesses into the ground), would've handled this far better, and more responsibly.
I guess we'll just agree to disagree then. I think 9/11 was bound to happen under any President's term, no matter what they did. I guess I just think it was fate or something. I can't really explain why I think that.
I can see where you're coming from. It's a matter of whether we feel fate is destined to happen or if we can change it by our actions. I choose the latter, you choose the first. No biggie.
