In what is being hailed as the 2nd worst natural disaster in history, a 8.9 magnitude earthquake struck Asia off the coast of Indonesia, triggering large tidal waves that took over 75,000 lives and left millions homeless or missing without a trace.

With the death toll still rising, Linkin Park have rushed to the aide of the victims by creating the "Music For Relief" charity, which is a joint effort between the band and the American Red Cross. Knowing that the charity will need a large donation to get up off it's feet, Linkin Park have donated $100,000 to the charity, and are hoping their fans and fellow musicians can help out as well.

"As a band, we were in a position to help, but this needs to be a lot broader effort — both by our fans and by other musicians," Linkin Park guitarist Brad Delson said. "If one of our fans can donate $10, then that's going to help, and the faster we can do it, the better."

For more information on how to contribute to this charity, please go to
Music For Relief which goes live today at 4:00PM EST.

Thats so great! Good on Linkin Park and any other bands who contribute to this, that really is good news for the people.

I cannot believe how many people have died though, its so sad to even think about it.

This just shows how much we take life for granted, especialy in the western world, this puts things in perspective.

It's weird, look at this news post about this on Blabbermouth, and the guys there are actually saying good things.

Of course, there's a few that are still talking shit, but yeah.

I love how almost every post begins with "Linkin Park sucks, but..."

Then it turned into a big political discussion.

Then some guy said "this will just make them look good and get them good press and money when they try to play in a country in that region that despises rock and metal" and was wrong. They're doing this partly (I'm sure) because they went to Asia and performed.

    God bless you.

May many other Linkin Park fans follow your example. Hell, I might donate as well if I can find a way to give me money to them.

My family always donates to the Red Cross and this time is no exception. I got my parents to donate $20 to this particular fund.

Remember, people: Every little bit counts, even if you can only donate the minimum of $5. So, please, donate and help the victims out.
