hey i just got my LPU package today and the first thing i did was listen to the cd as many of you guys did or will do no doubt! then 'standing in the middle' came on and the lrics sound rather familiar...... what i mean exactly is the first verse has already been used by LP believe it or not! i saw LP twice last year and the second time (Manchester MEN 21.11.03) when the band where prefroming 'Nobodys Listening' Joe added some extra touches and Mike added some extra lines, and guess what? they are exactly the same. granted it is a new track and motion has done a great job with his parts, but the lyrics for the first verse have been around for a while... there was a topic in 'Around The World' before where i got the lyrics - i cant find it now. i just wondered what you guys think??
i think LP only played this certain version of 'Nobodys Listening' on the second leg of the UK part of the Meteora World Tour and a select few shows at PR:04 if iam not mistaken they had a 50cent riff playing in the background instead of the shakuhachi flute also. iam sure there was a topic on this before. so yeh the lyrics have been around for a while!
he's rigth and they played I can't , only mike's first verse the 2 new added verses are great and mike did a great job as producer Iin my opinion
It's still new material. I doubt he wrote that verse for the tour and ended up putting this song together just to re-use it.
Yeah, he also did the same verse at the Birmingham show. Although, i haven't heared the track yet, as i'm still waiting for my package to arrive.
you never know! maybe mike just added the verse with no thought of making it into a 'proper song' and then when LP had to put some new tracks out (LPU) decided to use them - theres no harm in it.
I was gonna post this earlier. Mike did the track before the show, he just threw the lyrics in there to change up Nobody's Listening.
Maybe someone from the LPA team (or w/e) could post some lyrics up on the lyircs page so I can know what the hell you lot are on about
And just how do you know this? lol I mean this was when 3.0 first came out was when he started using the lyrics, I thought they recorded it recently or something. Edit: Joe used sample beats from 50 Cent's In Da Club as well as The Roots' The Seed 2.0 on the live version of Nobody's Listening, I have the mp3 from Manchester.
i printed these lyrics off when the old topic was still about..... [lyrics to the version they played in manchester]: Y'all better wake up, you dont think we see y'all driftin Sleeping on the job, forgetting your position Sit straight listen What you are missin' Cook up with bad shots straight from the kitchen No indecision I spit right, know we have a fist fight No goves, no mask, no pain, no slack No way to look back Nobody to say i cant make my own pack Its the way y'all act, i wanna break something Comin' at me like the pain i feel means nothing Comin from a place where you cant relate Where every word from your face seems to come across as fake I can harldy take The way y'all treat us Setting this out To everyone who wont believe us Spelling its out so y'all know the deal And if you cant feel it maybe you cant feel..... and if you see they are nearly exactly the same
I see, well I'm gonna sign up to the LPU at some point so I can listen to it when I get my CD.When Linkin Park tour the UK next I'm gonna be there though,I have to
And just how do you know this? lol [/b][/quote] Because, I hate to say it, but Mike can't freestyle. Either that or he just never has. If you can remember the incident on the Wake-Up Show where Mike used the previously written Dedicated lyrics, thinking nobody was the wiser, when the track was released for LPU 3.0 There's no way that Mike made up these lyrics on the spot. Too good for freestyle.

Neil, dude.. that's like saying that Mike isn't a good rapper if he can't come up with lyrics that are good in a freestyle. Most rappers can do that and are pretty good. He could've done it if he was having a good day, probably. Ehh, I don't really like the new song much. The chorus just bugged me.
Based on his freestyling in the past though, I'm fairly sure that he had already done the track before the Nobody's Listening bit. And besides, how could he have remembered a freestyle nearly word for word to put on a track when the only recording of the show was a bootleg fan copy that he probably doesn't know exists.

But you are right: Mike isn't a good freestyler. He even admitted that he isn't. I think what happened is that he wrote the lyrics beforehand to change up "Nobody's Listening" and then just decided to use them in a song so that everyone could hear them, just like you said. At least I think you said that.
