I noticed in the "News" forum, that there are mixed opinions of Mike's supposed censoring of LP's music. Here, you may discuss said topic.

My view--Swearing and/or other foul language would not necessarily improve the quality of Linkin Park's lyrics. I myself don't care about swearing, I can take it without being offended. But one of my best friends hates swearing, and admires Linkin Park for refraining from using profanity in their music.

    That said, take it away!

Using different words to articulate what you're trying to say instead of curse words is perfectly alright with me.

    But keeping the curse words in there, yet bleeping/gapping them out, makes the song feel empty and segmented. Linkin Park should go one of two ways;

    1) Use different words.
    2) Don't censor curse words, if they use them. Don't want the lyrics in there?: Replace them, but don't remove them.

I pretty much agree with both of you. I don't really care either way if LP swear or not, but if they do swear they shouldn't bleep it.

Didn't they once say that they didn't like the PG logo aswell? I'll guess that's why they put it on the back of CC

Anyway, they can't really have a problem with swearing 'cause it's all over Collision Course, even though that's because the lyrics are Jay-Z's but whatever. One thing that really does annoy me is the censoring on the High Voltage remix and on the Reanimation version of it. It get's quite annoying and really pointless with the 'sh' instead of just saying the word. <_<

Just a question, but on X-Ecutioner Style, are the swear words cut out? I've never actually figured it out... :wth:

doesnt bother me either way to be honest with you.

at the end of the day LP could do two things, they shouldnt bleep/gap the word in question - they could change the lyrics to somthing different like Mark said.

having or not having curse words on a track doesnt make it better or worse in my opinion.

No they didn't. They censored them.

I agree with LP on their decision to not curse because they think it helps the songs lyrically. But when Mike raps, curses, and then edits it out... that's just stupid. It's good to be a little naive but every little 13 yr old I know already curses more than me. So "I've seen a lot of sh... I talked to a bum out on sunset strip." seems unnecessary. Why bleep that? Because he couldn't find another word to rhyme with strip?

So I agree with Mark. Either stick to the No-Curse-Better-Lyrics approach or unbleep it when you do curse. Breaking your no curse rule just to edit "shit" anyway is just stupid.

Bah, it's best if they just play with words around swears if they can't help it instead of cursing like some friggin pissed person and censoring it anyways.

The reason that Linkin Park doesn't like to have swearing on their albums is because of the Parental Advisory sticker. I distinctly remember Mike saying that he didn't like the sticker because it got in the way of the artwork of the album.

Still, they solved that problem by putting the sticker on the back of Collision Course instead of the front. Disturbed also did the same thing with Believe - they put the sticker on the back of the album so it didn't interfere with the artwork.

I don't know why they choose to censor the words. It's not like their fans don't use those words. Most of their fans are teenies and most of their fans always say stupid things like "Mike is so f---ing hot" and whatnot anyway.

I think that if they choose to swear, they should leave it in. Censoring the music only takes away from the experience. It really doesn't bother me if they swear in their music or not... but if they do swear, they shouldn't censor the music.

I am 100% against censorship. i do not think that LP or any other group needs to consor their music. I get really pissed off when groups do.

I think swearing is neccesary at times in songs and the words should not be sensored like in High Voltage Remix ''...kareoke copy bullsh...'' although in Hybrid Theory EP there is swearing in Step Up and High Voltage. There are CD's though that have some swearing in them but no advisory sticker like the Lostprophets album somewhere in between 2 songs some guy's other words are F**k

Well if there's only limited cursing then there will be no PA sticker on them...unlike labels like Trustkill and Victory Records...they can put out a CD will all types of cursing, yet not carry a PA sticker!

I never noticed the swearing on the lostprophet CD, shall listen to it again.

But I don't think that adding swearing to Linkin Park's songs would add or take away from their music, it's all good when it comes from them
