Some great classical music is improvised piano by Dream Theater keyboardist Jordan Rudess. Some of his albums like Resonance and Secrets of the Muse have some amazing moments on them. They would be masterpieces had he just written them, but to just make it up and record it right away is just really amazing!
I was a classical music buff when I first started to learn music ... probably about 3 years ago. But I still do love orchestrated music, classical or not. I do love piano solos though.
