Chuck Palahnuik is the only author I will claim myself a fan of. He has written Fight Club, Choke, Survivor and Lullaby. They are all incredible books, I suggest the first two above the rest.
Orson Scott Card (he kicks it!) - Ender's Game, Ender's Shadow, Shadow of the Hegemon, Shadow Puppets, Speaker Of The Dead, Xenocide, Children Of The Mind (go Bean!) J. R. R. Tolkien - Lord of the Rings Trilogy J. K. I totally agree with your statement. If anyone has gotten me into books it has to be in favor of Chuck Palahnuik. I agree with your choicing of the top two books as well.
