According to Reuters, Linkin Park and Jay-Z's mash-up album 'Collision Course' could take over first spot on the Billboard album charts in its debut week. Reports from retailers have chart watchers predicting a total of 300,000-350,000 copies being sold in the first week of 'Collision Course''s distribution. It all depends on how big second-week sales of U2's 'How To Dismantle An Atomic Bomb' are. Their album sold over 840,000 copies last week. Results for the Billboard charts will be posted online on Thursday, December 9th, so check back for total sales!

That's cool. However, it doesn't sit right with me that it's considered an "album". It's seems like more of an extended single to me; Mike even said it was only supposed to be 2 tracks and a free style. I do help is sells a ton though so more projects like this can happen in the industry.

I downloaded the U2 album, and bought Collision Course. Score one for Linkin Park.

Dont the billboard charts count UNITS of an album? there are two units of CDs on this album. That means either 100K-150K albums were sold or it really is 300K-350K albums and the units with be recordered as 600K-700K. This is how Outkast scored big in their double album.

But one CC on is a CD = album and the other is a DVD = not an album.

That's awesome that a 6 track cd would sell that many copies...and Linkin Park deserves it!!!!

Don't hurt me! I bought U2 for my dad and didn't buy Collision Course!

I gotta say this, though--U2, IMHO, is one of the BEST bands around. After two decades, they're still rock-solid, so I think they're going to win this one.

Personally, I think U2 will retain first, and I'm absolutely fine with that.
