You obviously have not been paying attention to the lyrics or album titles from the first cd to their latest. Going from tormented/dysfunction where on the beggining of one of them he is loading a shotgun ready to shoot himself, to 14 shades of grey where he talks about issues other than his depression, like his baby girl zoe jane, or about the music industry which I think is what price to play/how about you are touching on. Now that he isn't as depressed, weining himself off drugs, and has a family, his songs arent as angry, this happens with almost every band (however linkin park has managed to stray from that course ). The difference is, Staind can make GREAT melodic rock songs, unlike other sh*thole radio bands like 3 days grace who play a chord or two like any 14 year old can do, and make songs you get tired of after a few listens. I personally was dissappointed when I first heard 14 Shades of Grey, but that was because I was expecting them to still be hard, but after really listening to the songs, I ended up loving it just as much as Break the Cycle. My personal favorites are Fray, yesterday, How about you, and zoe jane.
And you obviously haven't listened to Three Days Grace because they make some Melodic rock songs as well. There was really no need to call 3DG a shithole radio band in a thread about Staind.
My friend use to run a pretty big Staind website, so I usually know what's going on with them, because that's his favorite band. With this album, they are looking to make the hardest music they have ever made. They played a new song live awhile back and it was pretty hard. Mike Mushok did some new stuff with the guitar, Aaron screamed like he did on Dysfunction, and they used a lot of double bass.

Yes, I thought that the first time I heard "I hate everything about you" but then after hearing it on my radio station for a week, I realized how lacking it was. To me staind songs have lastability, they are always great to listen to. 3 Days Grace may *try* to make melodic songs like IHEAY and Just like you, but they are so damn repetetive and laced with horrible talent that I get sick of them. Listen to their guitar work. I can forgive Linkin Park for not being the best in the world with their instruments as long as what comes out is KICKASS, which it is, I love it. There is no forgiving 3 Days Grace. Staind are exellent musicians.

I'm not too sure you gave them a chance. I know they aren't the greatest band out there but "Take Me Under" is a great song.
