I knew that it wasn't 'oh my girlfriend broke up with me I WANT TO DIE' depression but after reading the link Kaeton posted I realized what kind of depression it was. Still not justification though...what can justify this? Didn't it say that she got treated and that the neighbours thought she was a loving mother?
I don't think anyone is trying to justify this....just trying to explain it... humanizing the mother a little, you know?
The thing with depression of any sort though, even if you come out of it, it is so easy to slip back into, I know about the type of depression the woman went through, I know someone who has had it and she had slipped in and out of it. It doesn't justify that her actions were right, that wasn't the purpose of giving you the information, like goso stated, just informing you. It is just another human mental condition. Her actions were unexcusable, but the state of mind that she was in is understandable to the point it is not surprising because in depression, one can do destruction without thinking any of it through, i.e. Suicide, body mutilation of sorts, physical attacking themselves or another or even attempting something like this. She is definately guilty for what she did, and there is no reason she should be given any amount of sympathy since she was aware of what she did (or so the article explains), but the justification here is not that she is in any way innocent, but the fact it shouldn't be that oh-so-surprising knowing already she had issues with depression. Like I said, a person can fall back into depression in a snap depending on situation and mental stability, so it's likely she was fine for awhile, but for some reason slipped back into it or something close to that effect.
OH they fall in and out of it! Ok that made things alot clearer. Ummm...I still don't understand it...they said it was stronger than the baby blues...what's that? When I find the answers for all of those questions I'll start posting again. (Don't bother trying to answer them for me I'm kinda slow). Never post something you don't understand because you'll look like a total idiot
Ah... That clears off my head why did you told us that information. She's guilty of hell, but she had that depression, so it shouldn't be surprising, that's what you're trying to say, right? Yeah, I get it. I'm still disturbed, though.
