Any good Evanescence fan knows that their new live album, 'Anywhere But Home' comes out on the 23rd of this month. I managed to snag a copy, and believe me, I am not impressed. The band played great, and I mean great, but Amy Lee's vocals were similar to that of an amateur wannabe American idol. It sounds like Amy does alot more breathing than changing notes, and her voice even cracked a few times. I would seriously recommend downloading this before you buy it, because like I said, it's nothing that great.

That's natural, why the hell did they have to rush a live album? You gotta give it time to make your live performance mature.

But it was probably Wind- Up's decision, not theirs.

Well...a live performance is a live performance. Do you want then to synchronize other audio with the live video. Does the DVD have a lot of bonus features and/or easter eggs in it?

Obviously you don't appreciate the fact that Evanescence toured more than Linkin Park did. It's harder for a girl who doesn't lip-synch to hit the notes all the time.

Well even if Amy Lee's voice isn't too good on this live album, I know for a fact she can sing amazingly since I have seen them live.

Considering that both bands played harder on the taped performances than the rest of the tour?

That would probably have something to do with it as well. Obviously if you know you're being taped you're going to try harder so you look better.

The most current thing I've heard from Evanescence live is their cover of Korn's "Thoughtless" a few months ago. I thought Amy did fine.

I just saw a performance of BMTL and My Immortal ,taken from the dvd, on Yahoo Launch and I though she sang really well.

I heard some MP3's of Evanescence live, and Amy sounded horrible.

But then I heard a live cover of Heart Shaped Box she & Ben did together in a Radio studio, and it was amazing. Weird.

I think all bands have their bad nights, and this was probably one of them.

    Or something.

When you tour nonstop for nearly two years (as Evanescence did - they didn't take hardly any breaks like Linkin Park did) to promote your album, you're going to have your off-nights. The fact that she's a girl probably makes it harder, and the fact that she goes all crazy on stage. (I should know, I saw them live.)

I second that, I imagine it must be difficult to keep a perfect voice all the time, pariticularly when you have a range as broad as Amy's. I mean shit, she can sing just as low as most guys I know... not to even mention the high notes. And they are indeed amazing live. I'm eagerly anticipating the album and its taking all of my strength to not download the album.

Radio lives are not nearly as hard as on-stage performances,

Although i agree that that Nirvan cover was awesome, and i don't think that Amy should have big problems on stage.

But if they toured so much, don't you think that they would have picked their best preformance to put out. And if this is their best... well, it's not that good.

I admit, the first few songs are kinda bad but after like, the third song, she's right on and everything is great. I think it just took her a minute to warm up. Evanescence is amazing live, either way. I saw them with Breaking Benjamin, Seether, and Three Days Grace and they fucking rocked.

What does the fact that she is girl have to do with anything I'm a girl and I can sing like her on the C.D live!

Amy Lee sounds horific live I wonder if that's really her voice on tape or if they changed it on the computer?

I think it lost more fans than bring new ones!
I definately lost some respect for her.

Alright genius, I dare you to go on stage in front of tens of thousands of people, and scream and and sing your absolute lungs out. Now, do it for two straight years, every two days. You wouldn't hold up.

The fact is, you don't have the talent nor the vocal range that Amy has, she's very unique like that. Very very few people can sing like she does. She can go very low and super high, and everywhere in between with the snap of a finger. So until you have a little more appreciation for dedicated artists who work extremely hard for two years straight and have talent, you shouldn't be passing judgements.
