    Define pornography.

I don't mean look it up in the dictionary. I mean, what's your personal definition of pornography?

I was listening to the comedy of Bill Hicks, and this question was brought up.

    So..?

Huh...interesting question...I guess my answer would be images of naked or mostly naked people portrayed in a sexual way.

eh, this topic is kind of lost on me now.

I wanted the dictionary to list pornography as 'anything that causes sexual thought', but obviously it didn't.

anyways, can one really consider Playboy a pornographic magazine? I mean, seriously.

Pornography (as stated in other posts) is acts of a sexually explicit nature caught through photography or video. This can range from nudity to actual sexual intercourse and the actions involved therein.

It is also why an overwhelming amount of males are going blind at an early age.

i agree. they have to be portrayed in a sexual way. that is very impotant to point out. it is similar to the difference between naked and nude.
and yes some of the picks in Playboy are portrayed in an artistic mannor, but over all the magazine is pornographic. (it is WAY better than Maxim or Penthouse though)

Porn: Photos/videos ranging from naked people to all types of sex, but that are portrayed in a sexual way. There can be also pictures of naked people in an art gallery, but is not porn.

That's the basic meaning. Of course, mentioning all types of porn will take forever, and I'm lazy today.

And I'm proudly one of them.

it's the stuff little boys and girls should avoid. :p that's not a valid definition. I really can't explain it, but i think all of these answers would be correct

Pornography is either photos or video of people having any form of sex. Playboy-type photos aren't pornography in my mind.

  20. #20

Pictures or videos of naked/semi-naked people in suggestive or provocative positions, intended for sexual arousal and stimulation.

Nudity isn't necessarily pornographic, but again, it depends on the connotations and I think it's always possible for the human mind to tell a sexually suggestive pose from one that is not. :)
